When: Wednesday, September 30, 2015 @ 6:30PM

Hot Spot: The St. Regis New York, NYC

Deets: On Wednesday, September 30, 2015, guests attended the Magic Bus USA 2015 Benefit Gala at the St. Regis Hotel. Guests were able to mingle with guest celebrities Georgina Chapman (owner & designer of Marchesa), Harvey Weinstein (American Film Producer), and Kevin Negandhi (ESPN Host), among others. Afterwards, guests were ushered into the dining hall and enjoyed dinner complete with wine pairings and luxurious desserts.

Georgina Chapman opened the dinner with an inspirational speech about why she chose to work with Magic Bus, stating that her work with textile factories inspired her love for India and a need to give back. She admires the impact that Magic Bus is able to make on very little money—none of the girls in the program get married before 18 (when the national average is 43%), which is rather impressive. Additional speeches were given by others, including Kevin Negandhi and Sangita Pal, a member of the Magic Bus Program.

A live auction was also held during the event. Guests left feeling empowered and inspired.

About Magic Bus:

Magic Bus is committed to developing local community mentors who take children living in poverty on the journey from childhood to livelihood. Over a ten year period, our mentors work with children and parents through a weekly curriculum of sporting activities, which are used as metaphors to change behavior in the areas of education, health, gender and livelihood. We always access existing community partnerships to ensure that young people move from poverty, and develop into young adults with greater control and choice.

Magic Bus is Asia's largest mentoring charity, working with more than 350,000 children and using sport as the powerful catalyst that ensures long-term engagement with under-served communities. This unique and dynamic approach leverages the power and energy of local youth to deliver the programs and today more than 8,000 youth across India deliver Magic Bus programs in their communities.

Magic Bus will give millions of children living in poverty the opportunity to control the way they view the world, the freedom to choose the role they will play in it, and the power to define their own destiny.

All Magic Bus graduates are offered the opportunity to enroll in livelihood programs, creating at scale, a movement of competent, confident young people ready to make a significant difference to their lives.

Founded in India in 1999, Magic Bus operates programs in 22 states across India, with designs on expansion throughout Asia in the coming years - with a goal of having 1,000,000+ children in the program every week. To support this type of growth, registered international sustainability offices operate in the UK, US, Germany, and Singapore.
