Affair: Private Hosted Dinner Series at The Federal Bar

When: Wednesday, August 19, 2015 @ 7:30PM

Hot Spot: The Federal Bar, Williamsburg, Brooklyn

Deets: Located in an early 20th century carriage house, The Federal Bar is the food-lover’s
extension of the famed Knitting Factory music venue next door.

We had the pleasure of joining Executive Chef Brendon Doyle for a private 4 course dinner. The Federal Bar is warm and inviting with a low lit 50-seat dining room, high ceiling, and a stunning centerpiece (its infamous globe) hanging high above the bar. Most of the furniture and decor has been re-purposed including the floor and chairs which were re-purposed from old schools.

The evening's menu consisted of whimsical dishes with locally sourced ingredients; simple, approachable cocktails; and a beer selection which includes nine locally sourced craft beers. Our First Course: Orecchiette mac & cheese with broccoli and fried panko; Crispy pork rillette with Brooklyn brown beer mustard and butter pickles; Rumaki (crispy duck livers) on waffles with bacon spicy maple glaze and pineapple/cilantro chutney. Second Course: 60-day dry aged burger on a Portuguese roll with Shelbourne cheddar and garlic aioli; Blackened red snapper with collard green and herb salad. Third Course: Beef heart poutine with demi glacé; Spicy hozon roasted cauliflower over parsley and almond gremolata; Roasted turkey leg with dirty rice. We finished with the Fourth Course - Peter Pan doughnut bread pudding with a pineapple glaze.

We topped it off with a delicious cocktail ~ The BBL (Brazilian Butt Lift): Cachaca, Mike's Hot Honey & lime.
