Affair: 2017 Stephan Weiss Apple Awards

When: Wednesday, June 7, 2017

Hot Spot: Stephan Weiss Studio, NYC

Deets: On Wednesday, June 7, Urban Zen Foundation, founded in 2007 by fashion designer and humanitarian Donna Karan, will honor Nadja Swarovski, Executive Board Member of Swarovski, alongside the former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton at the 2017 Stephan Weiss Apple Awards in New York. Past honorees include Bill Clinton, Mehmet Oz and Courtney Sale Ross.

The Urban Zen Foundation creates, connects and collaborates to raise awareness and inspire change in three areas: preservation of culture, healthcare and education. Through the Foundation, Donna Karan created the Stephan Weiss Apple Awards in memory of her late husband and business partner. The awards celebrate luminaries who are making a difference in the areas that the Foundation supports. The first awards ceremony was held on June 9, 2011.

This award recognizes that Nadja Swarovski shares the same values at the Urban Zen Foundation, and honors her achievements in driving positive change. Nadja is the first female member of the Executive Board of Swarovski and over the past 20 years has played an instrumental role in evolving the iconic crystal company into the $3.5 billion brand it is today. She has commissioned countless collaborations across the fashion, entertainment, art, design and business worlds— positioning Swarovski at the vanguard of creative and lifestyle trends.

Additionally, Nadja Swarovski serves as an ambassador for Women for Women International, a patron for Films Without Borders and as Chairperson of the Swarovski Foundation, which focuses its efforts in three areas: fostering culture and creativity, promoting wellbeing and conserving natural resources. Currently, the Swarovski Foundation has 30 initiatives in place across 14 countries. Under Nadja’s leadership, Swarovski has committed to the UN Women’s Empowerment Principles and the UN Global Compact. Earlier this year she was made a Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters (Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres) in recognition of her contribution to French culture.
