Deets: The legendary all white French-inspired pop-up dinner Le Dîner en Blanc has become THE culinary event of the year in cities around the world, bringing together food lovers, cultural enthusiasts, and fashionistas at a secret locale. A worldwide phenomenon, this year over 120,000 people in 28 countries will be attending.

New York was the first city in America to host Le Dîner en Blanc, which makes its return for the 7th consecutive year on August 22. Over 5000 guests dressed head to toe in elegant white will gather at a secret location to dine and dance under the stars. Celebrity chef Todd English, four-time James Beard winner, author, restauranteur, returns by popular demand to curate special menus for guests who order online.

The event has proven to be such a beloved tradition that across the country, the number of cities has increased to 25 with four premieres: Baltimore, Maryland; Seattle, Washington; Richmond, Virginia; and Orange County, California. Each event sells out, and many have wait lists, including New York which has exceeded 45,000 people.

Internationally 14 new cities have joined the party this year: Tauranga, New Zealand; Panama City, Panama; Bucharest, Romania; Gold Coast & Fraser Coast, Australia; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Zagreb, Crotia; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Leon, Mexico; Bangkok, Thailand; Lagos, Nigeria and Mombosa, Kenya.

Le Dîner en Blanc was launched in France nearly 30 years ago. Today, the storied Paris tradition attracts close to 10,000 people. After Le Dîner en Blanc’s U.S. debut in New York in 2011, the event exploded in popularity with requests to host it pouring in from around the world.

Every year in cities around the world, thousands of people dressed entirely in white descend on a landmark public space with everything they need for an elegant soirée in tow, including folding table and chairs, gourmet picnic food, fine china, silverware, and tablecloth. Over the course of the evening, the guests eat and celebrate amid live music and dancing. Many spend weeks in advance planning their menus and the white ensemble. The event offers the perfect occasion to express their unique fashion and design style; the often elaborate and creative outfits, fantastical hats, and decorative table settings are always a fabulous spectacle.

Participation in this unique event happens in three stages: Phase 1 is for members who attended the previous year; Phase 2 is for new members who are referred by Phase I attendees; and Phase 3 is for people who signed up on the waiting list. Sign-up now at newyork.dinerenblanc.com/register.
