Hot Spot: All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, London, England

Deets: The Championships, Wimbledon, The Wimbledon Championships or simply Wimbledon, is the oldest tennis tournament in the world, and widely considered the most prestigious. It has been held at the All England Club in London since 1877. It is one of the four Grand Slam tennis tournaments (Majors), the others being the Australian Open, the French Open (Roland Garros) and the US Open. Since the Australian Open shifted to hard court in 1988, Wimbledon is the only Major still played on grass, the game's original surface, which gave the game its original name of "lawn tennis". Wimbledon traditions include a strict dress code for competitors, the eating of strawberries and cream by the spectators, and Royal patronage.

Who You May Spot: Top tennis players in the world.

Hint For The Average Socialite: There are FOUR ways to obtain tickets for The Championships 2016:

The Public Ballot, introduced in 1924, has always been substantially oversubscribed. Entry does not automatically entitle applicants to tickets for Wimbledon, but to a place in the draw for tickets. It is not possible to request tickets for specific days or courts, as the day and court offered are chosen randomly by a computerised selection process. This year's ballot process has ended.

The Queue for The Championships 2016 will begin at 8am on Sunday 26 June 2016.

Wimbledon remains one of the very few major UK sporting events where you can still buy premium tickets on the day of play. There is one Queue for the on-day sale of tickets at the Gate 3 turnstiles.

Tickets are sold strictly on the basis of one per person queuing and payment is by cash only.

A limited number of tickets are available daily for Centre Court, No.1 Court and No.2 Court, except for the last four days on Centre Court, when all are sold in advance. In addition, several thousand Grounds Passes are available each day at the turnstiles entitling use of unreserved seating and standing room on Courts No.3-19.

3) Ticketmaster

Several hundred Centre Court and No.3 Court tickets are sold online on the day before play via Ticketmaster on ticketmaster.co.ukDetails will be communicated initially to those people who have registered for regular Wimbledon e-mail newsletters.Click here to register. As The Championships are a hugely popular and over-subscribed event, these tickets often sell out almost immediately after going on sale.

4) Official hospitality packages are available from Keith Prowse and Sportsworld.
