Deets: On Monday, April 25, the Film Society of Lincoln Center honored Academy Award–winning actor Morgan Freeman and celebrated his remarkable talent and commitment to film.

Presenters included Robert De Niro, Matthew Broderick, Danny Glover, Helen Mirren and Jerry Schatzberg, who spoke of the extraordinary film career and achievements of Morgan Freeman.

After receiving his Award, Morgan Freeman declared on stage “Knowing my name is now on a list that includes so many legends of cinema that I admire, is something I will always cherish.”

Jaeger-LeCoultre CEO Daniel Riedo attended the Gala dinner and also welcomed actress Kiera Chaplin who chose to wear a Rendez-Vous Moon for this occasion.

The annual Chaplin Award Gala is the Film Society’s major fundraising event, helping to support the organization’s ongoing work in education, artist development, and cross-cultural film outreach.

About the Film Society's Chaplin Award Gala

The Film Society’s Annual Gala began in 1972 and honored Charlie Chaplin, who returned to the U.S. from exile to accept the commendation. Since then, the award has been renamed for Chaplin, and has honored many of the film industry’s most notable talents, including Alfred Hitchcock, Billy Wilder, Laurence Olivier, Federico Fellini, Elizabeth Taylor, Bette Davis, James Stewart, Robert Altman, Martin Scorsese, Diane Keaton, Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks, Michael Douglas, Sidney Poitier, Catherine Deneuve, Barbra Streisand and, last year, Robert Redford.
