Delray Beach Tennis Center & Boca Raton Resort & Club, FL

Deets: Evert, the 18-time Grand Slam champion and International Tennis Hall of Famer, will host the 27th annual Chris Evert/Raymond James Pro-Celebrity Tennis Classic this fall during the weekend of November 18-20. Evert will be joined by a lineup of sports and en- tertainment celebrities, many who return annually to help the cause of drug abuse and child neglect in South Florida.

The three-day event has raised more than $22 million over the years, funding Chris Evert Charities, one of South Florida's longest-running charities hosted by a former professional athlete.

Celebrities who have been on hand in recent years in support of Evert’s fundraising endeavors in- clude SNL’s Jon Lovitz, TV pitch- man Alan Thicke, “Justfied’s” Tim- othy Olyphant, Bush rocker Gavin Rossdale, American Idol winner David Cook, “Grey’s Anatomy” star Kevin McKidd. “Today Show” co-host Hoda Kotb and comedian Billy Crystal. “Orange is the New Black” actor Jason Biggs, a former high school tennis player, and late night talk show host Chelsea Handler made their first appearanc- es in 2015.

International Hall of Famer Martina Navratilova, one of Evert’s closest friends, is one of the big supporters of the event. Other former professional players who have played in the event include fel- low Hall of Famers John McEnroe and Pam Shriver, ESPN analyst Patrick McEnroe and the WTA’s Anna Kournikova.

"We have clearly seen the impact of what we've raised, and how it has created hope and change within our children - our communi- ty's most vulnerable population," says Evert.

The monies that are raised are distributed to programs funded through the Ounce of Prevention Fund of Florida and the Drug Abuse Foundation of Palm Beach County. The agencies are on the front line of the daily battle of combating drug abuse in Florida’s communities, and funds from Chris Evert Charities address the agencies’ most pressing needs.

Chris Evert Charities also distributes Vitas Gerulaitis Memo- rial Scholarships to single mothers who are pursuing educational goals.

Since the scholarship pro- gram was established in honor of the former tennis great, 40 scholarships have been awarded to deserving candidates.

The Chris Evert/Raymond James Pro-Celebrity Tennis Classic contin- ues to be held at the Boca Raton Resort & Club and the Delray Beach Tennis Center, and includes a Pro-Am, a Celebrity Cocktail Re- ception, a Gala Dinner including live and silent auctions, and two days of Pro-Celebrity Tennis.
