Deets: We are thrilled to announce the return of Meryl Streep to Reel Pieces. Moderator Annette Insdorf will interview the actress onstage after a preview of Florence Foster Jenkins, directed by Stephen Frears.

The film is based on the life of Jenkins, a New York socialite who loved to sing, despite a dubious voice. Her invitation-only concerts were renowned for their amusement — including her flamboyant costumes — in the late 1930s and early 40s. Hugh Grant co-stars as her partner in work and love. Jenkins' life also provides the inspiration for the just-released French film Marguerite.

Meryl Streep has demonstrated her singing talent in such films as Postcards from the Edge,Mamma Mia and Into the Woods, and has earned Academy Awards for Kramer vs Kramer,Sophie's Choice and Iron Lady. She has also received Oscar nominations for films includingSilkwood, Out of Africa, The Devil Wears Prada and Julie & Julia. No other performer has received more Academy Award nominations (15 for Best Actress and 4 in the Supporting category).
