Deets: Each year the Walkathon is held in April, which also happens to be National Child Abuse Prevention Month and proceeds benefit Richstone Family Center and its programs to treat and prevent child abuse. National Child Abuse Prevention Month happens every April and is a time to acknowledge the importance of families and communities working together to prevent child abuse and neglect, and to promote the social and emotional well-being of children and families. During the month of April and throughout the year, Richstone Family Center is encouraged to share child abuse and neglect prevention awareness strategies and activities and promote prevention across Los Angeles, California.

The 30th Annual Richstone Pier-to-Pier Walkathon is on Saturday, April 29, 2017 with check-in beginning at 7:30AM at the Manhattan Beach Pier. 

To help Richstone Family Center build healthy families, this years event will feature many active and healthy lifestyle vendors including KIND Bar, Diabolo Beverage, Health Ade, Aleo Gloe, True Toniqs, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Quest Bars, Baby Bootcamp and many others. Warm up classes will be hosted by Baby Bootcamp just before the Walkathon kicks off at 8:00AM. 

Participants will start at the Manhattan Beach Pier, travel to the Hermosa Beach Pier and return to Manhattan Beach Pier. 

About Richstone Family Center
Richstone Family Center is dedicated to preventing and treating child abuse and trauma; strengthening and educating families; and decreasing violence in families, schools and communities. Richstone Family Center was incorporated as a non-profit social services agency in 1974. In 1977, the State of California awarded Richstone a grand as one of the first of 6 child abuse treatment and prevention programs in the state. Since that time, Richstone has expanded its staff from six to more than 135, increased the number of programs offered; expanded the area of service from Hawthorne to include the southwest corner of Los Angeles County and the Greater South Bay. Richstone offersservices for children from birth to 18 and for parents in their teens to grandparents in their sixties.
