When: Saturday, August 12, 2017 @ 8PM

Hot Spot: Field at 4 Maidstone Lane, East Hampton, New York

Deets: On Saturday, August 12, 2017, the East Hampton Library will present its 13th Annual Authors Night fundraiser. One of the most popular and celebrity-studded events of the Hamptons’ summer calendar, Authors Night features 100 authors across all genres and more than 2,500 people in attendance. The “Premier Literary Event of the Hamptons” has grown over its history to become one of the most successful celebrations of books and authors in America, and one of the largest library-author events of its kind in the country.

The evening begins at 5PM with the Authors Reception under a grand tent, where guests enjoy delicious hors d’oeuvres and wine and have the opportunity to meet and mingle with the authors, buy their books, and have them personally inscribed. At 8PM, directly following the Authors Reception, guests dine at dinner parties at private homes in honor of one or more of the guest authors.

Who You May Spot: The evening’s Founding Honorary Chair, Alec Baldwin, will be joined by his wife Hilaria Baldwin, both of whom will be signing their new books, Nevertheless: A Memoir and The Living Clearly Method: 5 Principles for a Fit Body, Healthy Mind & Joyful Life, respectively. Other featured authors include two-time Pulitzer Prize winning biographer Robert A. Caro (The Passage of Power: The Years of Lyndon Johnson, Vol. IV), New York Times best-selling author Tom Clavin (Dodge City), SoulCycle Senior Master Instructor Stacey Griffith (Two Turns from Zero), critic and author Molly Haskell (Steven Spielberg: A Life in Films), noted architect Peter Marino (The Garden of Peter Marino), former Obama staffer and COO of Vice Media Alyssa Mastromonaco (Who Thought This Was a Good Idea?: And Other Questions You Should Have Answers to When You Work in the White House), TV journalist Elizabeth Vargas (Between Breaths: A Memoir of Panic and Addiction), and renowned sex therapist Dr. Ruth K. Westheimer (Dr. Ruth’s Sex After 50). As the event nears, many additional celebrity, best-selling, and distinguished authors will be added to the roster of participants.

Proceeds from this special event benefit the East Hampton Library, a private, not-for-profit organization providing outstanding free library services to the East Hampton community since 1897.

Hint For The Average Socialite: Ticket prices are $100 for the Authors Reception only, and begin at $300 for the dinners (includes entry to book signing reception). Tickets are available online beginning in late spring, at the Authors Night website (www.authorsnight.org) at the Library (159 Main St., East Hampton, NY) and by calling (631) 324-0222 x7.
