Australian clothing label, Gorman has joined forces with talented Los Angeles-based artist Lola Thompson (http://www.lolarosethompson.com/) for its latest vibrant collection. The new collection will premiere with a launch event at Gorman - Los Angeles (8483 Melrose Ave., Los Angeles, CA) on Thursday, December 14th from 6:00pm - 9:00pm. The collaboration will feature Lola Thompson’s artistry both through clothing and imagery as a solo-art exhibition of the collection will adorn the walls of Gorman’s first American flagship store. The collection will bring Lola’s art to life in the form of dresses, T-shirts, skirts, bags, and earrings which will also be featured in its Australian and New Zealand locations.

A proud citizen of both the U.S. and Australia, Lola’s approach to color—flat and bright and neon—recalls aspects of Matisse and Gauguin. Lola has exhibited her work in Los Angeles, New York, London, Spain, and Berlin, and has had three solo shows in Los Angeles. Her most recent solo show “Flowers To Make Up For Everything,” opened this July 2017 at Los Angeles gallery The Lodge, and was well received by both collectors and critics. Thompson’s work has been collected by Sia, Father John Misty, Al Pacino, Madonna, Steve Bing, and Buck Henry. Lola’s work has also been featured in numerous magazines and publications including Vogue, Teen Vogue, and the New Yorker. Her paintings have also been chosen as the cover art for various books, most recently for writer Jen George’s critically acclaimed novel The Babysitter at Rest.

"Working with Lisa and seeing my art used in a different format has been such fun and I'm so excited to see the clothes themselves when they arrive in LA ." - Lola Thompson, Artist

Founded in 1999 by Lisa Gorman, the brand is best known for its playful patterns and bold silhouettes with an extensive apparel and accessories range. Lola's penchant for working with fresh flowers, bright colors with pop-inspired patterns, and geometric shapes, has resulted in a whimsical and chic collection for women. Inspired by the everyday culture and artists that surround us, Gorman has continued to infuse a modern take and artistic spirit into its apparel. Artist Lola Thompson exemplifies this synergy with her unique style of working with fresh flowers in the mediums of watercolors, oils and neon palettes.

Throughout the years, Gorman has become an iconic part of the Australian fashion landscape. From its whimsical signature prints, directional knitwear and vivid colour palettes, there is a distinctive handwriting that underpins all of Gorman's designs.

“Working with Lola on this collaboration is a celebration on a few levels. Firstly, the marriage between Lola’s gorgeous artwork and my clothing, explored through a textured world of sequins, digital print and glitter. Secondly a recognition of our combined Australian and American roots. I am an Australian brand now venturing into the US. Lola’s mother is Australian and she maintains family ties in our part of the world. So I feel like our coming together holds natural feeling about it and a sort of unspoken understanding of where we’ve both come from and where we’re heading. I look forward to launching our collaborative collection of 20 limited edition styles in our new LA store, as well as bringing Lola’s artwork to the forefront here in Australia.”- Lisa Gorman
