Deets: World-renowned chefs and tastemakers of the Spanish, Indian and American communities will come together for the Vicente Ferrer Foundation (VFF USA) annual event, “Recipe for Empowerment sponsored by Lladró,” on October 20, 2018. The event will feature dishes conceived and presented by top Indian, Spanish and American chefs from the D.C. area, to symbolize the intertwined global mission of VFF USA.

Taking place at The Capital Hilton in D.C, celebrities, philanthropists, social changemakers and dignitaries will celebrate rural India VFF USA with food, entertainment, auction items, and a keynote address from Hank’s Oyster Bar chef and owner, Jamie Leeds. Her inspiring story of entrepreneurship in the D.C restaurant industry will empower women-owned businesses in the US and India.

In addition to the food, guests will participate in a unique live auction including:

* Chef Dinner at Home: Award-winning chef and sommelier Danny Lledó will prepare an exquisite menu for four in your home or at Slate Wine Bar.

Limited Edition Lord Ganesha Sculpture: Lladro’ s artists have recreated the Hindu god of wisdom and knowledge. Handcrafted in matte porcelain and featuring highly elaborated ornamentation, this sculpture is truly eye-catching.

* Chef Logan McGear will prepare an extraordinary meal for 8 people in your home. Chef McGear is the executive chef at four local institutions: Smoke & Barrel, Rosario, Meridian Pint, and Brookland Pint. Given his wide expertise, you and Chef McGear will work together to develop the menu according to your and your guests' tastes and dietary needs.

* Create your own beer in Miami: Biscayne Bay Brewing Company invites you and up to three guests to spend a weekend creating your own beer at their brewery in Miami, Florida. Once brewed, your beer can be enjoyed at the brewery or be shipped to your home.

“It is so inspiring to see our supporters stand with rural communities. I am honored to lead an organization developing partnerships that move beyond spare change to real change,” says Angelina Klouthis, VFF Executive Director. Lladró’s generous donation will train 500 women artisans with disabilities. With the collaboration of amazing chefs and additional sponsors like La Caixa, Infinite, Grapes of Spain, Emirates, Aegis Wealth Management, Manatt, Ganey Law Group, Allergy and Asthma Center, Cardio Solutions, Indiaspora, Embassy of Spain, TANA, among others. The gala will empower rural India by providing 34 homes for vulnerable families, computers for a digital classroom in inclusive schools, and numerous university scholarships for rural students.

For millions living in poverty in rural India, change is the path to sustainable progress. VFF USA partners with local communities in India, using a “recipe” that promotes sustainable solutions for education, health equity, rural infrastructure and agriculture-- ultimately, empowering communities from within.
