SQUASH ON FIRE

Squash On Fire is DC’s premiere squash facility located in the heart of Foggy Bottom. Boasting eight courts (two of them all glass!), a full restaurant and bar, gym, locker room, and pro shop, their no membership, pay to play system brings squash to everyone in the district!

We were able to take a beginner’s squash lesson with Director of Squash, Ronny Vlassaks! Though we (okay, maybe only me) were intimidated to play for the first time, Ronny was amazing at teaching us foundational level skills with a few drills and tricks. By mid-way through the lesson, we were able to get a few rallies in!

As someone who struggles with finding a fun way to stay active, I absolutely loved playing squash and learning from Ronny. It was so much fun and I definitely felt the workout after (I was so sore the next few days). They make it super easy to get started by providing shoes and all the equipment you need!
Not sure how to play? Highly recommend taking a class/lessons with Ronny.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

Courses & Clinics With a 4-1 player to coach ratio, their courses and clinics are designed around the abilities and needs of the players involved.

Round Robins One of their most popular programs, their coaches will match you up with multiple players and help you assess your skill level!

Private & Semi Private Lessons Their coaches will help you set short- and long-term goals, and then work together to meet them. Through personalized drills you'll work on movement, game tactics, fitness, and learn about the fundamentals of squash.

Ladder & League Ladder players are encouraged to challenge other contestants as regularly as possible during the season in addition to attending two dedicated ladder evenings. Players will receive points for their wins, challenging another player and every time they compete in a ladder match

Squash Hit Around Great for groups between 10-20 people, their Squash Hit Around starts with an introduction from one of our coaches before you hit the courts, playing with your friends while our coach circulates to make sure everyone gets a turn. They give you multiple courts surrounding a common area so you can catch your breath and socialize in between games. Cool off at their café where you can enjoy sips and nibbles.

UPPER WEST SIDE CAFE

After our lesson, we enjoyed dinner at their in-house, full service restaurant, Upper West Side Cafe!
They also have a full service bar (with a pretty good happy hour on the weekdays!).
