Hey Average Socialites!  In the mood for something different for dinner?  Yakitori is a must!  What is it, you ask? The dish is traditionally a type of grilled chicken on skewers, but it has more recently expanded to other kinds of meat like beef and pork.  And of course, anything on a stick is fun to eat!  Below are a few spots serving up this delicious dish.

Yakitori Totto
251 W 55th St / Manhattan
This hole in the wall restaurant may seem unassuming, but this upscale restaurant serves up some of the best dishes.  They serve different parts of the chicken on skewers, as well as a variety of vegetables, pork, and if you’re really feeling bougie, try the wagyu skewers.

Torishin
362 W 53rd St / Manhattan
Torishin has perfected this simplistic dish by letting the grilled meat speak for itself.  They cook with specialty charcoal that keeps the meat crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside.  Need something to wash it down? The restaurant has a wide range of sake to select from, with bottles originating from every corner of Japan.

Maison Yaki
626 Vanderbilt Ave / Brooklyn
Specializing in small, unique dishes with a french flair, you’ll want to try everything at this restaurant!  In addition to yakitori, they also have a wide selection of sandos, sides, and desserts when you’re all finished.

Mochiron Izakaya
34-18 30th Ave / Queens
Sit yourself down in one of the cozy booths and get to eating!  While you’re browsing the menu, look around at the walls and all the different art pieces that make one giant collage.  They also have some incredible ramen if you’re still hungry after the skewers!  For a professional move, dip the skewers into the ramen broth for an extra flavorful experience!

Sakai Ramen and Izakaya
965 Richmond Ave, Ste F / Staten Island
With so many food options at this establishment, it can be hard to pick just one!  Not only are there numerous rice bowls, ramen, and yakitori options but there are also over a dozen different toppings to add to your meal!  Feeling really adventurous?  Try the Hatsu Yakitori, or more commonly known as Chicken Heart!

Grand Street Skewer Cart
Chrystie St / Manhattan
Unlike all of the other options on this list, this isn’t your typical sit down restaurant.  The Cart opens at 5:00 PM every day, and stays open until 1 am for anyone craving a super late night bite!  With the prices around $2 per skewer, it’s very easy to succumb to the urge to buy everything you see on the menu.

NONONONO
118 Madison Ave / Manhattan/
This restaurant prides itself first and foremost on using every part of the chicken in their meals, from the meat on their skewers to the bones that form the base of their broth.  If you want to try something new, get the Pork tongue or the tail yakitori!

Amami
57 Nassau Avenue / Brooklyn
If you’re looking for amazing service, great cocktails, and high quality yakitori, this restaurant is for you!  And once you’ve stuffed yourself full of delicious bites, finish off the night with one of their many unique desserts, like miso Ice Cream or matcha tiramisu!
