Deets: A black tie event, hosted by Gwyneth Paltrow, will benefit amfAR and honor renowned fashion designer and film director Tom Ford. The 2014 Inspiration Gala Los Angeles will recognize Tom Ford for both his stunning contributions to the fashion world and his invaluable support in battling the decades-long AIDS crisis. Performer and style icon Rihanna, herself inspired by and inspiration for the designer, has been chosen to present the award. Hollywood executive producer Rebecca Wang will join amfAR Chairman Kenneth Cole, philanthropist Aileen Getty and MD of Creative Artists Agency Bryan Lourd to chair the 2014 Gala. J.J. Abrams, actress Katie McGrath and Tom Ford, will act as Vice Chairs, alongside a veritable who’s who of Hollywood as co-chairs.
The Inspiration series was launched in 2010 to celebrate men’s fashion and style while raising funds for amfAR’s lifesaving AIDS research programs. Each year features a different design “inspiration” theme. Since its inception, Inspiration galas have been held in New York, Los Angeles, Paris, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Toronto, and Miami. To date, Inspiration events have raised more than $16 million to benefit amfAR.
