Affair: Exclusive Cocktail Night for Little Mizz Innocent

When: Sunday, November 8, 2015 @ 8PM-12AM

Hot Spot: Hotel Shangri-La, Los Angeles, CA

Deets: Music and film production company Goldove Entertainment hosted a cocktail event in anticipation of the release of its feature film Little Mizz Innocent (LMI) during the 2015 American Film Market & Conferences, a must-attend industry event and the premiere global marketplace where Hollywood’s decision-makers gather for production and distribution deals. The party took place on Sunday, November 8, 2015 from 8 PM to midnight at the Hotel Shangri-La (1301 Ocean Avenue, Santa Monica, CA 90401). Written by Gino McKoy with French director Xavier Gens attached to the film, LMI is a female-lead action and crime thriller about a seemingly innocent UN interpreter who gets caught between the FBI and a criminal dynasty in a grapple for vengeance.

With a budget of $45-55 million USD, the film is the largest independent feature in the history of Canada and is set to begin principal photography in Canada, Austria, South Africa and China in early 2016 with expected release in the same year. Playing the lead role is actor Olga Kurylenko (Quantum of Solace, Oblivion, Into the Wonder).

“I didn’t want another male-driven or cliché female action movie, which is what you see now in the marketplace. I wanted to add some character, spirit and passion into the lead and have the audience identify with her and follow her emotional journey throughout the movie,” says Gino McKoy, screenwriter, Little Mizz Innocent. “The audience could see her vulnerabilities and strengths at the same time. There is a psychological and dramatic aspect of the film as well. It is a hybrid of drama and action that would attract both female and male audiences to the screen.”

The concept of Little Mizz Innocent first started three years ago. Gino wrote the first draft of the screenplay within two weeks. The story eventually evolved from a dramatic feature to the hybrid drama-action film set for production in Fall 2015. Partial earnings from the film once it hits theatres will go towards the charity Kinder Krisis.

“Before I endeavor into anything I try to research it to death in terms of how I’m going to approach it,” says Gino. “I tend to write backstories first for the characters, then I write the script afterwards.”
