BLACKBIRD LOS ANGELES LAUNCH
Blackbird, the next-generation loyalty and payments platform for independent restaurants, officially launches in Los Angeles on October 22. Founded by Ben Leventhal, co-founder of Resy and Eater, Blackbird is built on a simple idea: hospitality should feel personal again. Its technology makes that possible - helping restaurants recognize and reward their regulars while giving guests a more connected experience, where loyalty feels personal, not transactional. It is the better way to pay and earn points at restaurants.
The way it works is simple:
For diners, loyalty finally feels tangible: real rewards, exclusive perks, and a direct way to support the restaurants they love most. Participation is open to everyone - no memberships, no barriers, just recognition for showing up.
For restaurants, Blackbird eliminates middlemen and high processing fees while providing visibility into who their most loyal guests are. It helps operators measure and grow lifetime value - something that’s long been out of reach for independent restaurants.
Now live at more than 1,000 restaurants across all markets, including New York, San Francisco, Denver and Charleston, Blackbird chose LA next as its next market because it represents the best of independent hospitality - creative, community-oriented, and driven by experience. The Westside in particular has a strong density of restaurants that embody the “old school hospitality, new school technology” philosophy that is the driving force behind Blackbird.
To kick things off, Blackbird is partnering with some of the city’s most celebrated names in hospitality, including Gjelina, Felix, Ggiata, Rustic Canyon Group, and Citrin Hospitality Group, to bring modern hospitality technology to the Westside’s independent dining scene.
