BLANK STREET MAKES ITS WEST COAST DEBUT
Blank Street, the New York–born café brand celebrated for its innovative matcha and coffee creations, arrives on the West Coast in Los Angeles. The cafés bring Angelenos a fresh approach to their daily coffee and matcha run.
Founded in 2020, Blank Street has quickly become a global sensation, with 100 locations in New York City, London, and beyond. Recognized for a menu of Signature beverages, the brand transforms the everyday coffee and matcha experience into something memorable, replacing the predictable with the delightfully unexpected.
“Los Angeles has always held a special place in my heart. The city is beautiful and endlessly inspiring,” shares Issam Freiha, CEO and Co-Founder of Blank Street. “We’ve always dreamed of opening here, but the question was never if, it was when Blank Street would feel fully ready for Los Angeles, when every touchpoint from our menu to our hospitality and design could meet the high standards the city deserves.”
Blank Street will make its West Coast debut in Beverly Hills this summer, one of Los Angeles’ most iconic neighborhoods, known for its lasting cultural influence and signature lifestyle. “We wanted a location that meshed organically with daily life, not just an occasional destination,” shares Evan Mateen, Head of US Real Estate at Blank Street. “Bedford is perfect - a vibrant stretch filled with salons, wellness studios, and local businesses that drive energy throughout the week. And the architecture of our space, a standalone Tudor Revival building, lets us express Blank Street’s playful energy while honoring the classic charm of old-world Beverly Hills.”
Around the same period, the brand will open in Studio City, a space and location that has a distinct character and creative energy. “I’ve always loved Studio City for its relaxed, lowkey feel. I grew up nearby. The area’s mix of historic Hollywood energy and local community make it a perfect complement to Beverly Hills,” Mateen explains. “But what really sealed the deal for us was the space. It’s an original mid-century building with an incredible curved overhang and outdoor patio. We had the opportunity to restore it and revive its original design intent, so we had to take it.”
Each location is intentionally designed to mirror the pulse of its neighborhood, blending a clean, modern aesthetic with a warm, welcoming energy. In Los Angeles, these spaces will offer a moment of reset amid the city’s constant motion, an inviting pause where guests can enjoy inventive drinks in an environment that feels both local and elevated.
To celebrate its LA arrival, Blank Street will be hosting a pop-up at 818 Outpost in the Coachella Valley on Friday, April 10th, giving guests a first taste of the brand’s beloved drinks, including Strawberry Shortcake Matcha and Cherry Glaze Cold Brew Latte.
Looking ahead, Blank Street will open new locations later this year on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood and along the Malibu coast.
