Deets: The Finals will take place from 14-19 April 2020 at the Laszlo Papp Budapest Sports Arena, where 12 nations will compete for the chance to be crowned Fed Cup world champions.

In 2019, the ITF announced the new week-long ‘World Cup of Tennis’ format with the launch of the Fed Cup Finals in Budapest, which will host the event from 2020-22.

The new format sees an increase from eight to 20 nations competing each year to become world champions, with the 12 Finals nations competing for a total prize fund of $18 million, with $12 million going to players and $6 million to National Associations.

The Finals will see the 12 nations divided into four groups of three, with group winners advancing to the semi-finals. Ties will consist of two singles matches followed by a doubles match.

Reigning Fed Cup champions France and 2019 finalists Australia have automatically qualified for the 2020 Finals, alongside hosts Hungary and wild card the Czech Republic.

The remaining eight spots will be claimed by the winners of the Fed Cup by BNP Paribas Qualifiers, which take place on 7-8 February 2020. The draw for the 2020 Fed Cup Finals will be held in Budapest on Tuesday 11 February.
