There’s a new addition drawing attention in St. Maarten, and it’s easy to understand why. The JW Marriott St. Maarten Beach Resort and Spa has quickly established itself as one of the island’s top luxury accommodations.
We stayed in a Deluxe Guestroom that offered a spacious 646 square feet. The room included a sofa bed, a work desk, and a well appointed bathroom. The highlight, however, was the private terrace with a plunge pool, where we spent time taking in the ocean views.
Dining is a strong point at the resort. We had several meals at Carambola, where the menu focuses on seafood along with a range of international dishes. The restaurant’s setting, with lush surroundings and both indoor and outdoor seating, makes it a great choice at any time of day. Other options include Liguria, which offers a more elevated Mediterranean menu and an extensive wine selection, as well as Opal Lobby Lounge for a more relaxed setting. Breeze, located on the beach, is ideal for lighter fare and cocktails, offering a laid back atmosphere with dishes like ceviche and tacos.
For those focused on relaxation, the Hibiscus Spa is a standout feature. With 16 treatment rooms and a wide range of services, it offers a comprehensive wellness experience. We had a massage that was both restorative and refreshing. Additional amenities include a full service fitness center, group classes such as yoga and aerobics, and a pickleball court.
You can also try out a mixology class at the JW Culinary School, an on site space designed for interactive culinary experiences. The sessions are led by experienced instructors who guide you through preparing several cocktails. It’s both informative and enjoyable, and also provides a nice opportunity to connect with other guests.
The resort’s location also makes it easy to explore the island. While it is situated on the Dutch side, it is close to the French side, allowing convenient access to both. We joined a day tour arranged through the hotel, which provided a well rounded introduction to the destination. Overall, the JW Marriott St. Maarten Beach Resort and Spa offers a well balanced experience, combining modern design, strong dining options, and a wide range of amenities. It is a welcome addition to the island’s hospitality scene and appeals to a variety of travelers.
