Deets: Istituto Marangoni Miami, a fashion school known for developing fashion talent in an incubator atmosphere, has collaborated with renowned shoe designer Alexandre Birman on a mentor program for students. Over the course of a year, the students received guidance from Birman and a deeper understanding of the design, development, construction, and manufacturing of footwear.

“Istituto Marangoni Miami is place of learning that is dynamic, new, and full of energy. It’s these types of mentorship opportunities, such as the one with Alexandre Birman, that truly shapes the future of the fashion industry. Hosting this event during Art Basel Miami and being at the center of the excitement, drives the Miami Fashion Movement forward,” commented Hakan Baykam, founder and president, Istituto Marangoni Miami.

Student Designs Manufactured
Six students participated in the program and had their designs produced at the brand’s factory in Brazil. On December 2, 2022 six pairs of shoes, designed by the students, were unveiled at a special program at the school.

“The future of fashion and footwear is with these highly talented students. It’s an honor to be working with them,” said Alexandre Birman, founder of the eponymous brand and CEO of Arezzo&Co Group. “Hosting the finale of the mentorship program during Art Basel Miami highlights how art, culture, and fashion are essential to new ideas.”

Mentorship and Shared Experiences
Of the six students who participated, two were selected by an audience of 75 guests as “the most marketable shoes.” Those designs came from Ryan Anthony Hamilton and Bettina Mattei Da Silva. Student participants in the program also included: Anya Michelle Bilinkis, Maria Cacciatore, Camila Francine Balleste, and Ashley Salcedo.

During the event, a video presenting the development and production of each shoe was shown to the students and guests. Alexandre passionately spoke about the decision-making process for each project, solutions, and adaptations for the footwear market. He also provided valuable guidance to each individual student.

Birman shared his experiences as a footwear executive and how he has achieved international growth. “My goal is to share knowledge and understanding of the footwear industry so that the students can make a positive impact on the future.”

Deets: From December 2-3 in the center of Wynwood at Soho Studios, Prime Video will present a larger-than-life immersive art activation centered around Riches, called “The Crown We Never Take Off”. The experience will celebrate elements from the show that exhibit the freedom of expression and identity in the Black diasporic experience, through several mediums including photography, sculpture, painting, music, video and performance art. ​

Riches is an alluring drama that follows the exploits of the stylish, privileged, super-successful Richards family. When Stephen Richards passes suddenly, the family’s world comes crashing down. As the business hands in the balance, his children are about to collide as they vie for control. The series allows audiences to see an authentic expression of generational wealth and the importance of ownership.

Collaborating with curator Donnamarie Baptiste, guests going through “The Crown We Never Take Off” exhibit will see various art forms from artists like Marryam NomaCarlos Idun-TawiahTammie Knight, and Morel Doucet that map back to the overlooked efforts of Black entrepreneurs and creatives who, like the Richards family, push boundaries and excel despite the odds. The exhibition will also offer attendees various photo moments like an editorial-style photo op that places guests as the ‘Face of Flair & Glory’, a highly coveted honor within the series.

Deets: Istituto Marangoni Miami hosted a Studio 54 inspired fashion event attended by over 700 guests, celebrities, fashion industry leaders, and press. A centerpiece of the high-energy fete was the announcement of the With Love Halston student scholarship contest winner.  Kicking off the excitement for Art Basel Miami, the celebration is part of a larger fashion movement recognizing an international cadre of new talent, innovation, and inspiration. 

The paparazzi section buzzed with stars, fashion executives, and designers in celebration of the night’s festivities. Special guests included Halston's Niece and Founder of With Love Halston : Lesley Frowick; With Love Halston Co-Founder, Steve Gold; Halston Creative Director: Ken Downing; Istituto Marangoni Miami CEO: Hakan Bakyam; Illustrator for Halston and Ralph Lauren: Audrey Schilt; Miami Housewives: Kiki Barth. The event emcee was former Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Mexico, Eva Hughes.

“It takes courage, perseverance, and a little madness to make it in this industry. Halston had this. He was courageous and extreme in his own, minimalistic way,” said IMM’s founder and president Hakan Baykam. “We are excited to be collaborating with With Love Halston. Students need to challenge themselves and participate in contests like this one. It’s a tough industry and they need to be persistent – just like Halston.”

Student Winner Announced
The winner of the With Love Halston student design contest was Ryan Anthony Hamilton who created a Halston inspired jumpsuit with splatter paint design.  Second place was Valentina Arenas, and third place was Camila Balleste. The contest gave students, which were narrowed down to eight finalists, hands-on experience and insights into Halston’s talents and style. The competition used five-point criteria including the requirement that Ultrasuede, the fabric synonymous with his work, be used. Participants created inspiration boards, paper sketches, selected fabric swatches, and showed designs with front and back views.

“My uncle was a visionary. He would be proud if he were here to witness these talented eight Marangoni Miami finalists,” said Lesley Frowick, Halston’s Niece and founder of the non-profit With Love Halston.

Student finalists were Marissa Mercado, Maria Cacciatore, Ryan Anthony Hamilton, Jose Angel Costa, Paola Pueyo, Vanessa Lubeigt, Valentina Arenas, Camila Balleste, Veronica Scutaro and Nicole Leave.

Fashion Activations
The DJ spun music evocative of disco’s heyday, creating a retro ambiance as guests sipped Prosecco from Valdo. The evening’s events included a fashion show of the students' Halston inspired designs. A dramatic innovation included 3D Avatars of the models, a technique that is paving the way for an eco-friendlier way of creating samples and fashion design and is at the cutting edge of fashion technology.  In real time, illustrator Audrey Schilt, Creative Director of WLH, created drawings that were auctioned and then personalized. There was also a raffle of 38 posters with illustrations by various artists from the FIDA organization led by our partner Patrick Morgan.

Giving Thanks
The already jubilant mood of the room continued to build as Hakan Baykam, Lesley Frowick, and Steve Gold, Managing Director of WLH shared gratitude and substantive messages for those that participated in various elements of the event including: Patrick Morgan MA RCA for the design of the invitation and posters, Scott Vogel CPA for WLH, Rigaud, The Nando and Elsa Peretti Foundation, Tiffany & Co,  Toray/Ultrasuede, The Do-Gooders, HALSTON/Excel Brands, FIDA Worldwide, Amy Berkowitz and Mario Braghieri professors and mentors at Istituto Marangoni Miami.

The show will mark Bizarrap’s first performance in the U.S. after a successful European tour. His latest song “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 52” with Quevedo marks his first song in the Billboard Global Chart for the past 40 days. The show will also feature an explosive performance by "La Princesa De Miami" Mariah Angeliq, having just wrapped up her third European tour in 2 years, with upcoming music dropping on the 30th of September. With movie theaters remaining closed around the country due to the coronavirus pandemic, Walmart has come up with a plan to help moviegoers get a similar big screen experience while staying socially distant.

Beginning in August, Walmart is transforming 160 of its store parking lots into contact-free drive-in movie theaters.

Walmart is partnering with Tribeca Enterprises for the drive-in tour that runs through October.

The "Havana Nights"-inspired soiree will take place at an exclusive waterfront venue built from the ground up with jaw-dropping views of the Miami skyline. VIP guests will be shuttled in by boat to a private marina with limited yacht slips and rentals available. The night will feature live performances from Grammy-winning duo The Chainsmokers, Miami’s own Rick Ross, Lost Kings, and more to be announced.

In the Know Experiences will serve as lead producers for the event, bringing over a decade of experience in white glove hospitality and nightlife entertainment. The team will oversee the construction of the first-of-its-kind venue across five acres of lush waterfront property along the coast of Biscayne Bay, which will be accessible by land or sea. 

The 40,000 square foot tent will be fully equipped with state-of-the-art sound, staging, and lighting as well as custom furniture and finishings, providing all of the luxuries associated with a permanent structure.

Once inside the venue, guests will be transported to an upscale extravaganza featuring an art deco-inspired aesthetic punctuated by gold chandeliers and velvet couches.

The more than 3,000 expected attendees will have access to delicious food, bottle service and open bars stocked with top-shelf liquor, including The Chainsmokers’ craft tequila brand JAJA Tequila, which will serve as the official tequila of the night. The experiential wonderland will also boast unique brand activations, like a candy dot wall and a candy bar from Sugar Factory, among other immersive guest experiences, alongside topflight hospitality and entertainment.

Deets: Post Malone is headlining “Bootsy on the Water,” a one night, pop-up event that brings L.A. hotspot Bootsy Bellows to a select crowd in Miami. The event, happening January 31, will take over a custom-built 40,000 square foot space along Biscayne Bay. In addition to Malone, there will be sets by DJs Zack Bia, Devin Lucien and IRIE, who’s known as a local fixture in Miami (when he’s not doing residencies in Vegas). Organizers, The h.wood Group, also promise “special surprises throughout the night.”

This is the eighth year that The h.wood Group has thrown a Super Bowl event. Last year’s headliners were Gucci Mane, Tiesto and French Montana, and previous Bootsy Bellows pop-ups have featured everyone from Justin Bieber to Travis Scott. The parties have also attracted a slew of celebs, from Chris Evans to Kendall Jenner.

With similar bold-face names expected at this year’s event (produced in conjunction with In The Know Experiences and The Network Advisory), tickets to “Bootsy on the Water” won’t come cheap, starting at a cool $1000 for a seat at a shared “VIP Table.” Organizers are also offering up private yachts to take guests to the event (entering through a private marina of course) and even a $65,000 package that gets you and 11 guests a helicopter ride to the event and a table right in front of the stage.

The link between entertainment and sports is nothing new for The h.wood Group, who have a field-level Bootsy Bellows-themed VIP area at Los Angeles Rams games inside LA’s Memorial Coliseum. But this event has the added appeal of taking place during one of the biggest sporting weekends of the year, with one of the biggest artists in the country right now as the headliner. John Terzian and Brian Toll, co-owners of The h.wood Group say, “combining sports, entertainment and music only happens like this once a year [and] ‘Bootsy On the Water’ will be a one-of-a-kind experience.”
