Deets: The Sympathizer is a new historical black comedy drama miniseries premiering on HBO, based on the Pulitzer-prize winning novel of the same name written by Viet Thanh Nguyen. Near the end of the Vietnam War, a spy who was embedded in the South Vietnam army flees to the United States and takes up residence in a refugee community, where he continues to gather intelligence and report back to the Viet Cong. The show stars Hoa Xuande, Fred Nguyen Kahn, Toan Le, Sandra Oh, and Robert Downey Jr.
