BREW AT THE ZOO, DC

  • National Zoological Park Smithsonian National Zoo (map)

Deets: Hosted by Friends of the National Zoo (FONZ) at Smithsonian’s National Zoo, this year’s event will feature nearly 70 breweries, all providing the best pours in town to support wildlife conservation. Local favorites, such as Port City Brewing Company and 2018 RAMMY Award winner Right Proper Brewing Company, will be joined by popular microbreweries, including Denizens Brewing Company and Hellbender Brewing Company.

While sampling great beer, guests will be awed by plenty of dino details, including epic dinosaur stilt walkers.

There will be delicious food for purchase on-site from some of D.C.’s most popular food trucks. There will also be great music by The Shrapnels and Bobby McKey’s Dueling Piano Bar, in addition to brew-friendly yard games.

RECAP

Talk about a blast from the past! @fonznationalzoo hosted a prehistoric beer festival. The beloved and familiar National Zoo was completely transformed into the perfect venue for a million(s)-year-old soiree.

Upon entry, all attendees were provided Brew at the Zoo event beer mugs, which could be refilled over and over (and over) again throughout the course of the event. Once you're all checked in, the real fun begins. Walk in to discover what can only be described as a prehistoric paradise with its countless rows of tents featuring beer from breweries, food trucks, and games. Did we mention that there were over 70 breweries at the event? The event was fully packed with people having a great time. The game tent featured giant Jenga, ping-pong, life-sized chess and more fun games to enjoy. Just when you thought the surprises were over, workers and performers stepped out in full dino-getups and danced the night away to the music provided by The Shrapnels and @BobbyMcKeys' Dueling Piano Bar.

Wondering what the VIP perks entailed? VIP ticket holders were given early access to the event so you can cut the lines and get everything before the second wave. For a complete Brew at the Zoo experience, the VIP ticket holders were also given exclusive access to the Great Cats Circle, which featured lion and tiger viewings.

This was definitely an unforgettable event and dare-we-say one that will go down in "history?" Bad puns aside, Brew at the Zoo was immaculately organized and offered a great night for everyone in attendance.
