Deets: Hershey Super Sweet Adventure, the hit interactive family-friendly experience created by Original X Productions in partnership with The Hershey Company, announced it will officially open its first East Coast experience on Friday, March 6 at Tysons Corner Center (1961 Chain Bridge Rd.).

Hershey Super Sweet Adventure guests will embark on an interactive journey complete with games, active play and family-friendly moments designed to spark imagination and connection for candy lovers of all ages. Visitors will celebrate the perfect combination in Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, uncover the delight that wraps Hershey’s Kisses Milk Chocolates, master the art of the Twizzlers Twists, experience the bold flavors of Jolly Rancher candies and more. For its East Coast debut, the experience will feature never-before-seen activations including a playful celebration of Bubble Yum Bubble Gum and an all-new grand finale experience where guests can personalize their own Hershey’s Milk Chocolate bar wrapper with a selfie and other fun options.

Deets: On Thursday, October 29, from 6-9 pm, visitors can spend a haunted evening exploring the Museum’s exhibitions as the Great Hall transforms into a Haunted Hall, complete with live music, classic silent horror films, and more spooky fun.

Built in the late 1880's as the headquarters for the U.S. Pension Bureau, this historic building has many intriguing stories that will be explored on a ghostly scavenger hunt.

Deets : Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a time for commemorating our ancestors. Rather than a period of mourning, it is an occasion for celebrating with family—both living and dead—and honoring the cycle of life. Visit the National Museum of the American Indian and enjoy family-friendly activities throughout the day, including dance performances by Grupo los Tecuanes, making paper marigolds to be placed on a Catrina statue, and making papel picado (perforated paper decorations) with David Amorozo. Learn how pan de muerto (bread of the dead) is made with Neil Vargas, Jr. Learn about La Catrina and her joyful view of life and mortality by interacting with live Catrinas roaming the festival. Deets: The Smithsonian’s Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden has announced that “Yoshitomo Nara: Sentinels of Stillness” (Saturday, Oct. 31, 2026–Saturday, Nov. 7, 2027) will inaugurate its West Lawn when its revitalized sculpture garden reopens this fall. The exhibition of three new monumental artworks emphasizes the interplay between the artist’s life experience and sculpture’s premodern foundation: hand-building with clay. “Sentinels of Stillness” introduces three recent sculptures: “Long Tall Peace Sister” (2025), “Smiling” (2025) and “Tiny Bright Round Eyes” (2025), each a sculptural enlargement of a small clay head created in 2021. Fabricated in aluminum and coated in white urethane paint, the three towering heads evoke the snowdrifts that the artist recalls from his childhood winters. On closer inspection, the trio reveals Nara’s thoughtful attention to material and the play of light on its surface. The forms invite curiosity, contemplation and rest; they are emblematic of the artist’s intention to forward a spirit of peace.

It coincides with the Yoshimoto Nara Exhibit at David Zwirner in New York City October 29-December 12.

Deets: The 2026 National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony Lottery opens soon! It's almost time to enter for your chance to join us for this time-honored tradition at President's Park in Washington, DC. The lottery officially opens on October 28, 2026, at 10AM!

On December 3, 2026, the National Park Service and National Park Foundation will present the annual National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at President's Park in Washington, DC.

This ceremony is a beloved holiday tradition dating back to Christmas Eve in 1923 when President Calvin Coolidge lit the first National Christmas Tree.

Now, more than 100 years later, this tradition continues with musical performers and special guests bringing people together in one of America’s National Parks to celebrate the beginning of the holiday season.

After the lighting ceremony and throughout the month of December, visitors are invited to view the National Christmas Tree, as well as the 58 surrounding trees honoring the states, territories, and District of Columbia.

Hint for the Average Socialite: Applications can be submitted online via Recreation.gov. There is no charge to enter or receive tickets (maximum of 5 tickets per household; one application per household). Entry ends November 4. Winners will be notified on November 12!

Deets: Join us on December 5, 2026, for the 34th Annual Holiday Boat Parade & Party at The Wharf. Kickoff the holidays with this iconic DC tradition that features over sixty beautifully decorated boats parading along the Washington Channel.

Hint for the Average Socialite: Party to live music on District Pier while you sip on hot toddies and drinks from the Corona Cheer Garden. Get into the spirit with ornament decorating, holiday karaoke, s’mores at Camp Wharf, and visits with Santa. Don’t forget to bring your camera to take photos in front of the Jack Daniel’s Barrel Tree and 45ft illuminated Christmas tree on District Pier. A spectacular fireworks salute will conclude the boat parade at 8pm.

Deets: To honor this monumental occasion, award-winning and nationally recognized chefs, who formerly spearheaded Blue Duck Tavern, will return to prepare their signature dish for a special dinner gathering with merrymaking over 2006 vintages and Blue Duck Tavern Somiler selections.

Enjoy a six-course feast featuring Blue Duck Tavern’s opening Executive Chef Brian McBride’s Maryland crabcakes, Chef Brad Deboy’s (Rohan Duck), Troy Knapp’s (Hors d'oeuvres and BDT Fries), Ryan Larcohe’s (Bone Marrow), complementing Blue Duck Tavern’s current Chef de Cuisine Andrew Cleverdon’s chosen dish to feature, (Cured Fluke).  Jean-Claude Plihon, the director of culinary and food & beverage at Park Hyatt Washington, D.C., will also prepare a dark chocolate birthday cake (Collaboration with Valhrona Chocolate) for this special menu, working with the pastry team to also serve Blue Duck Tavern’s famous apple pie for dessert. Former Blue Duck Tavern General Manager Joseph Cerione will preside as guest sommelier for the evening, explaining each wine pairing.

Deets: Halo Top is bringing an ice cream truck to NYC throughout the summer, serving up samples at half the calories of the leading brands and with a good source of protein and fiber. You might’ve recently seen their Silent (á la) Mode Spoon stir up some big conversations about choosing a “chronically offline” summer and staying on DND.

From weekday lunch breaks to post-work golden hour and even through to the weekends, Halo Top is hoping to set the golden standard when it comes to savoring life’s simple pleasures.

The truck will be driving through Manhattan, Long Island City, Brooklyn, and the Bronx from late-May to early-July.

Deets: DC’s favorite summer concert series returns to the National Gallery of Art this summer with Jazz in the Garden: American Sounds. This season highlights both rising voices and celebrated performers whose work reflects the evolving landscape of American music. Kicking off May 22, the series spotlights artists from across the country performing across genres including indie soul-funk, alternative bluegrass, salsa, jazz, rhythm & blues, blues, Americana, and brass band music.

For over 20 years, Jazz in the Garden has transformed the Sculpture Garden into a vibrant outdoor stage, creating the opportunity for visitors to gather, enjoy refreshments, and experience live music surrounded by world-class works of art. This year, join us for fun, informal dance lessons before and during the concert on select dates.

Hint for the Average Socialite: Admission is free. Due to the popularity of Jazz in the Garden, and to give everyone an equal chance of attending, the Museum will again offer registration through a lottery system. The lottery will take place the week before each event. It will open on Monday at 10AM and close Friday at 12PM. All lottery entrants will be notified whether or not they were selected the Monday before each program via email. If selected, you are welcome to register for up to 4 passes. Registration is required for ages 2 and above. In addition to the passes distributed through our lottery, limited passes will be available at all entrance gates—first-come, first-served—starting at 5PM
