Deets: DC’s favorite summer concert series returns to the National Gallery of Art this summer with Jazz in the Garden: American Sounds. This season highlights both rising voices and celebrated performers whose work reflects the evolving landscape of American music. Kicking off May 22, the series spotlights artists from across the country performing across genres including indie soul-funk, alternative bluegrass, salsa, jazz, rhythm & blues, blues, Americana, and brass band music.

For over 20 years, Jazz in the Garden has transformed the Sculpture Garden into a vibrant outdoor stage, creating the opportunity for visitors to gather, enjoy refreshments, and experience live music surrounded by world-class works of art. This year, join us for fun, informal dance lessons before and during the concert on select dates.

Due to the popularity of Jazz in the Garden, and to give everyone an equal chance of attending, the Museum will again offer registration through a lottery system. The lottery will take place the week before each event. It will open on Monday at 10AM and close Friday at 12PM. All lottery entrants will be notified whether or not they were selected the Monday before each program via email. If selected, you are welcome to register for up to 4 passes. Registration is required for ages 2 and above. In addition to the passes distributed through our lottery, limited passes will be available at all entrance gates—first-come, first-served—starting at 5PM

The event is part of their "Sheet Swap" initiative, in partnership with Looptworks, the only U.S. facility that converts textile waste into high-quality circular products.

The first 20 customers to drop off a queen or king-size sheet set for recycling will receive a free Naturepedic sheet set (valued up to $329). NMWA Unframed: Aluminate the Night includes a partnership with haus of bambi; performances by poet Alexa Patrick and Les the DJ; an Ebonibleu parade from Miss Grace David, Best Local Artist 2025 Washington Blade; and a headline performance by Bessie Award-Nominee and 2025 winner of Revry TV’s King of Drag, King Molasses.

NMWA Unframed celebrates the 10th anniversary of #5WomenArtists, the museum’s award-winning advocacy campaign supporting gender equity in the arts. The evening begins at 7 p.m. with an exclusive VIP Experience featuring art world luminaries, an open bar, a private art performance, and more. The event reach full shimmer at 8:30 p.m. with a dazzling lineup of music performances, DJ sets and dancing in the galleries.
