Deets: Virginia’s answer to the Kentucky Derby—the Virginia Gold Cup has been running for 94 years, going on 95, and has become a long-standing tradition for Virginia and the Washington, D.C. region. With fancy hats and lavish tailgates, it’s an event that’s timeless and is growing each year with more than 65,000 attendees. On Saturday, May 2, race day features seven hurdle, timber and flat horse races, Jack Russell Terrier races, tailgate and hat contests, and over 30 vendor booths for shopping. 

Hint for the Average Socialite: General admission car passes are $85. (allows entry of car only) Each attendee must have a Member’s Hill badge ($55) or a general admission wrist band ($25 per person.)  Tickets are available online or area Harris Teeter stores (VIC card discount) and should be purchased in advance.
