Deets: The San Gabriel Valley’s long-awaited Glendora Public Market—a 19,000-square-foot food hall—will open its doors on Saturday, Sept. 26th. The former Wonder Bread site (which originally opened in 1948) will debut a rehabbed interior and exterior that preserves the rich history of the neighborhood and the authenticity of the space it occupies, while bringing together a curated mix of some of Southern California’s most beloved, local food & drink purveyors. Vendors will include Smog City Brewing (taproom), Dog Haus, Bushi (Jinya Ramen bar’s new ramen and hand roll concept), Portside Fish Co., and The Taco Man, among many others. To celebrate, a number of vendors will be offering limited time specials for the opening weekend, which will be announced on Instagram (@glendoramarket) by the end of this week.

Committed to operating with the utmost caution, management and tenants will be strictly adhering to the guidelines the state has set forth for restaurants to re-open amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, and continue to follow the direction and recommendations of public health officials as those guidelines evolve. Though the communal indoor space will be closed for the time being, the market’s outdoor patio will be open for al fresco dining, and vendors will also be open for curbside pick-up and/or delivery.

Previously vacant for over a decade, the Glendora Public Market will feature architectural elements such as exposed brick walls, 20 foot barrel vault ceilings, and wooden truss, all of which are original to the building. The reclaimed historic space will be the largest food hall in the San Gabriel Valley, offering a one-of-a-kind haven for consumers in the region who want to create their own ultimate dining experiences with quality offerings in one place. The full lineup of those offerings include:

  • Smog City Brewing: creatively inspired and exceptionally balanced craft beers.

  • Dog Haus: gourmet hot dogs, sausages, burgers, and chicken sandwiches.

  • Bushi by Jinya: ramen, hand rolls, and karaage (Japanese-inspired fried chicken).

  • The Taco Man: authentic, Mexican-style fresh chicken, steak, and pork tacos grilled on-site.

  • Portside Fish Co.: fresh seafood dishes such as fish and chips, calamari, and fish tacos.

  • Belly Bombz: Korean-inspired wings, rice bowls, and burgers.

  • Penny Coffee Roasters: craft coffee, kombucha, and pastries.

  • Boba Break Tea House: unique boba drinks and delicious desserts.

  • Bolo: bolo (aka pineapple buns) with fried chicken or seasonal ice creams for dessert.

  • Cassidy's Corner Cafe: fresh bagels and bagel sandwiches.

“The goal from the beginning of this project was two-fold: to provide a dynamic anchor for the community, and empower small businesses to launch or scale,” says Jason Hsiao, Managing Director with Shaw Investments, the developer of the project. “Markets have always been a personal fascination: the allure of discovery, letting your senses wonder down the rabbit hole. When we saw the opportunity to restore and revive this landmark, we knew this was a once-in-a-lifetime chance to bring a unique and vibrant experience to the area.”

Glendora Public Market is located at 905 E. Arrow Hwy. in Glendora.
