Deets: Experience Steven Spielberg’s Jaws (1975) like never before. Jaws: The Exhibition is the first-ever exhibition of this scale at the Academy Museum, focused exclusively on a single film, and the largest mounted exhibition ever for Jaws, the Oscar®-winning film from Universal Pictures. It celebrates the film’s 50th anniversary and revisits Jaws scene by scene, through original objects, behind-the-scenes revelations, and interactive moments. Curated with direct access to the collections from Steven Spielberg and The Amblin Hearth Archive, NBCUniversal Archives & Collections, and more, the exhibition dives deep into the film’s production history and explores its enduring impact.

Directed by Oscar winner Steven Spielberg, Jaws became the first summer blockbuster that forever changed the movie industry. The suspenseful adventure film, adapted from the novel by Peter Benchley, is centered on three main characters—Brody, Hooper, and Quint—who hunt a great white shark menacing the seaside town of Amity Island. The monumental success of Jaws belies uncertain beginnings, where production challenges arising from an unprecedented mechanical shark spurred creative problem-solving. Over five decades later, it remains clear that the tenacity of its cast and crew led to the realization of this beloved classic, one of the most influential films in motion picture history.

Jaws: The Exhibition is organized by Senior Exhibitions Curator Jenny He and Assistant Curator Emily Rauber Rodriguez, with Curatorial Assistant Alexandra James Salichs.

Hint for the Average Socialite: The exhibit is free with museum admission.

When: Tuesday - Saturday, 5PM - 10PM

Deets: Get Nostalgic at Our 80's Themed Pop-Up Bar in Huntington Beach

What do neon-colored ski outfits, a life–size yeti and thematic food, drinks, and décor all have in common? Each of these will be heavily on display at Kimpton Shorebreak Huntington Beach Resort’s new winter pop-up bar, Pier Summit Ski Lodge.

Upon entry to the Pier Summit Ski Lodge, you’ll experience an immediate departure from Surf City USA and be transported to a decade of the past. Neon-hued décor and lighting complimented by kitschy eighties trademarks will fill the space while servers, outfitted in retro one-piece ski outfits, will present menu items showcased through vintage viewfinders.

The beverage menu is the real star of the show with a selection of affectionately named craft cocktails served up in experiential ways, including:

  • Big Foot – bourbon meets pumpkin-maple richness with a hit of mole

  • Johnny Applesack – tequila, apple cider, and cinnamon foam (fall in a glass)

  • Snow Bunny – vodka, sloe gin, and silky vanilla-cranberry perfection

Deets: Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board announces the return of the highly anticipated Winter edition of Dine LA Restaurant Week, running for 15 days from Friday, January 23, through Friday, February 6, 2026. The program invites visitors and Angelenos to discover LA’s vibrant food scene by shining a spotlight on the diverse culinary hubs that make LA a global dining capital.

Beyond celebrating LA’s world-class fare, Dine LA is a collaborative initiative with local restaurants, produced by LA Tourism, to uplift the city’s culinary community. The event inspires direct spending that supports the chefs, line cooks, servers, and neighborhood purveyors who bring LA’s dining scene to life.

This season will showcase more than 375 restaurants across 70 neighborhoods and 30 global cuisines in LA County. With specially priced prix-fixe lunch and dinner menus, Dine LA makes it accessible for Angelenos to support their favorite local spots while discovering new culinary gems.

Exciting New Participants

This season offers a diverse array of first-time participants, ranging from Michelin-recognized establishments to neighborhood icons. In Koreatown, Gebang Sikdang brings its Seoul-famous expertise, delivering a polished, high-end seafood experience. Just blocks away, Jinsol Gukbap provides comforting, soul-warming flavors of authentic Busan-style cooking, perfect for winter dining.

South Los Angeles sees a vibrant expansion of participants with Somerville, a new progressive American supper club on the historic Slauson Corridor that honors the area’s rich roots through elevated comfort food and cocktails. It is joined by the community-focused Hilltop Coffee and Kitchen, a beloved staple of the local landscape.

The San Gabriel Valley adds prestigious depth to the roster with Michelin-recommended Bistro Na’s in Temple City, where guests can indulge in Imperial Manchu cuisine amidst opulent, court-style décor. Meanwhile, noodle and dumpling enthusiasts can head to Rosemead’s Good Alley.

Neighborhood Spotlight: The San Fernando Valley

From the high-end dining rooms of Ventura Boulevard to hidden spots offering authentic global flavors, The Valley continues to prove its status as a major food destination. Participants include Firefly in Studio City, where diners can enjoy a romantic "secret garden" atmosphere in library-style cabanas, while sushi lovers can head to The Bar - Handrolls by Seabutter for a casual yet elegant counter-dining experience. For those seeking spectacle with their steak, Odyssey and Castaway offer breathtaking, panoramic views of the city from their hilltop perches, pairing sunset vistas with dry-aged cuts and inventive seafood dishes.

Turn Dinner into a Destination: Dine and Stay

Dine LA encourages the experience beyond the table by transforming a meal into a mini-vacation. This year, the program highlights properties that offer a seamless blend of culinary excellence and high-touch hospitality.

In Beverly Hills, escape to the SLS Hotel, a Luxury Collection Hotel, where The Nook, a cozy gem, sets the stage for an intimate evening followed by a luxury overnight stay. In North Hollywood, The Garland offers a retro-chic sanctuary with al fresco dining by the fireplace at The Front Yard and stylish hotel accommodations. For a modern Hollywood vibe, The Godfrey Hotel pairs the elevated gastropub flair of Alk with sleek interior design, while Downtown LA’s Hotel Per La is the ultimate urban escape, combining the rich Italian heritage of Ristorante Per L'Ora with a sophisticated stay in the heart of the city.

Created and produced by LA Tourism, Dine LA Restaurant Week puts a spotlight on LA’s world-class dining scene while supporting local restaurants and hospitality workers. With prix-fixe menus ranging from $15 to $65 and above, the program invites diners to explore the city’s ever-evolving restaurant landscape at a variety of price points, making it easy to try something new, support local, and celebrate LA’s culinary talent.

LA Tourism invites residents and guests of the city to explore, experience, savor, and share their culinary journey and favorite meals when the winter event commences on January 23. To learn more, visit DineLA.com and join the conversation on social @dinela on Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok.

Deets: Join Barnes & Noble - The Grove at Farmers Market on January 30, 2026, at 7:00 pm as we welcome reality television star Spencer Pratt to take photos with fans for the release of his memoir The Guy You Loved to Hate: Confessions from a Reality TV Villain. In this explosive, wildly entertaining memoir, Spencer charts his rise and fall as America’s most notorious reality TV villain on The Hills—and how, from the ashes of the Pacific Palisades fires, he’s finally ready for his redemption arc. Now, for the first time, Spencer reveals the untold truth behind the spectacle—a darkly comedic, unflinching, and often surreal confessional from a TV villain who’s finally broken character for good.

Deets: Avast, me hearties! Tonight, the moon is high, the tide is wild, and the glittering seas are calling you aboard for an adventure unlike any other. Inspired by the beloved Disneyland attraction — with just a playful whisper of the films — Stripwrecked brings the swashbuckling world of Pirates of the Caribbean to life with shimmering tease, roguish charm, and a shipload of mischief.

Set sail with our daring crew of burlesque buccaneers, where bold beauties, charming scalawags, and cheeky rogues twirl, strut, and sparkle through every iconic moment. From haunted caverns glowing with secrets to towns ablaze with revelry and rum, this is the pirate’s life… with a little extra wink.

And fear not, ye seekers of legends — our Jack Sparrow is ready, swaggering across the deck with that unmistakable charm and chaotic good looks. And yes… we have the Redhead. Fiery, fearless, and fabulous as ever — she’s ready to claim the spotlight, steal your heart, and maybe your doubloons.

Expect sirens who shimmer like moonlit waves, captains who command with wicked glee, and pirates who dance like the wind itself. With dazzling costumes, iconic nods to the original ride, and burlesque magic in every corner, Stripwrecked delivers a treasure trove of wonder, whimsy, and a splash of naughty nautical fun.

Hoist your colors, gather your crew, and prepare to be enchanted. Dead men tell no tales… but our performers tell them spectacularly.

MEOW WOLF LA GRAND OPENING, LA

@meow_wolf

Subscribe to our Free Newsletter to Stay Up-To-Date on Events in your City

Deets: The creator of extraordinary, mind bending immersive experiences, Meow Wolf, is announcing that its sixth permanent exhibition will be located in a movie theater in Los Angeles—a city that, much like Meow Wolf, is constantly evolving.

Meow Wolf began in 2008 as a DIY collective of Santa Fe artists who repurposed junk into staggering immersive art spaces and threw raucous warehouse parties, as seen in the documentary Meow Wolf: Origin Story. When George R. R. Martin helped them open their wildly successful first permanent installation, House of Eternal Return in Santa Fe, the artists embarked on a meteoric rise in which they transformed the scrappy collective into a Certified B Corp. They went on to build awe-inspiring interactive worlds that have transported almost 10 million guests into breathtaking realms of imagination in Las Vegas, Denver, Dallas, soon Houston, and next, Los Angeles.

Los Angeles stretches out in all directions, not just physically but culturally. It’s a city that doesn't follow; it often leads and sometimes, races ahead of itself. This frenetic creativity, daringness to dream, sprawling magnitude, and futuristic alignment is exactly why Meow Wolf has chosen Los Angeles as the home for its next dream oasis.

"For years we've made trips to Los Angeles, dreaming of creating something in its layered and ever-changing network of creativity,” said Sean Di Ianni, Co-Founder of Meow Wolf and Senior Creative Director of Meow Wolf Los Angeles. “L.A. is more than a physical place; it extends deep into the global landscape of human imagination, constantly pushing its own bounds. Meow Wolf Los Angeles will stretch these cinematic horizons by weaving together an unpredictable tapestry of art, story and interactivity."

Known for being hard to explain but easy to enjoy, Meow Wolf exhibitions are genre-defying. Unlike conventional escape rooms, selfie museums, or immersive projection mapped tours, they’re fully fleshed out and interconnected interactive worlds with underlying storylines that invite a unique experience for every person who visits them. Meow Wolf Los Angeles will encapsulate their signature style of maximalist fantasy woven together with a decidedly Angelino twist: cinematic mythos, mysterious eggs, absurd glitz, the fantastical spells cast by Hollywood, and novel connections to their existing Meow Wolf worlds in other cities, all that thrive under an overarching cosmic Meow Wolf Universe.

“This is more than an immersive experience,” said Jose Tolosa, CEO of Meow Wolf. “We want it to be a part of the city's ongoing narrative of growth. Being in Los Angeles, the entertainment capital of the world, we're humbled to add to the dynamic interplay between art and entertainment here. Meow Wolf Los Angeles will blur the lines between reality and fantasy, inviting everyone to become part of a living, breathing spectacle."

Meow Wolf is proud to be the first Certified B Corporation in the entertainment industry. For each location it inhabits, Meow Wolf collaborates with local artists to create a masterpiece that is an ode to the city they call home. Expect a full sensory love letter to the Los Angeles art scene, its history, and its legacy.

Can’t wait to see it for yourself, Angelinos? Omega Mart, Meow Wolf’s trippy grocery store instagrammed by celebs like Alicia Keys and Katy Perry, is just a three hour drive away and it’s open now. Additional details about the L.A. exhibition’s grand reveal, theme, and more will be announced in the coming months. Meow Wolf Los Angeles invites travelers of all ages to an unforgettable experience through living, breathing art.

Deets: Santa Monica is partnering with Goldenvoice, a division of AEG Presents and one of the nation’s leading producers of large-scale music events, to produce a new music and cultural festival on Santa Monica’s coastline in fall 2026.

"Partnering with the city of Santa Monica to bring a yearly music festival to the Pier is a true honor for us,” said Melissa Ormond, Goldenvoice COO and COO of Festivals for AEG Presents. “We can't wait to bring world class music and artists to one of the most beautiful urban locations in the state."

The inaugural festival concept envisions a single-day event with an estimated capacity of 30,000 to 35,000 attendees. Programming would include 12 to 15 musical artists, curated food and beverage offerings, festival and artist merchandise, art installations, partnership activations, and guest services such as restrooms, lockers, and water stations.

Goldenvoice has indicated its intention to design a festival that aligns with the character of Santa Monica, encourages attendance by residents, and drives economic activity for local hotels, restaurants, and retail prior to and during the event.

Deets: Mark your calendar. The LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games will be here in six short years. The LA28 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony is set for July 14, 2028, with the Games running through July 30, 2028, and the LA28 Paralympic Games will kick off August 15, 2028, and close August 27, 2028.

The LA28 Games will be Los Angeles’ third time hosting the Olympic Games (previously 1984, 1932) and the first time hosting the Paralympic Games. The LA28 Games will represent the creativity, diversity and youthful energy of the Los Angeles region.

The LA28 Games will use existing world-class stadiums and sports venues across the Los Angeles region, ensuring a sustainable and fiscally responsible event. The LA28 Games will feature more than 3,000 hours of live sport across 800 events in more than 40 sports. 15,000 athletes are expected to compete in the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles.

The announcement of the LA28 Games dates comes as International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach and IOC member and LA28 Coordination Commission Chair Nicole Hoevertsz visited Los Angeles to review and celebrate LA28’s planning. During their time in Los Angeles, Bach and Hoevertsz met with LA28 leadership, community leaders and city officials, visited sports facilities and watched PlayLA youth sports programs made possible by the LA28 Games and the IOC’s $160 million commitment.

PlayLA launched in 2021 to ensure kids across Los Angeles have an opportunity to participate in low cost or no cost quality sports programming - including adaptive sports – in their neighborhood. The $160 million investment from the IOC and LA28 is the single largest commitment to youth sport development in California.

International Paralympic Committee President Andrew Parsons added, “All of us in the Paralympic Movement are incredibly excited about LA28. We know that the Paralympic Games are the most transformative event on earth. Everywhere they take place we leave a legacy of better accessible transport, more inclusive legislation, and a societal shift in attitudes towards persons with disabilities. In LA we are going to turbocharge that. Change starts with sport and these Games will be a vehicle to transform minds and lives. Change is already happening in local communities thanks to the fantastic work of the LA28 organizing committee. These six years are going to fly by and soon, in the entertainment capital of the world, we will with our friends in LA put on the most important show America has ever seen."
