Deets: Lupus LA, a non-profit, national health organization based in Los Angeles will be hosting their inaugural, Cuisine For A Cause, Spring Dinner. Lupus LA is dedicated to finding the causes of and a cure for lupus while providing support, services, and hope to all that suffer from lupus. Founded in 2000 by a concerned group of lupus families and spearheaded by a world-renowned rheumatologist, Lupus LA raises funds to support three critical areas of focus: medical research, patient services and awareness, and global advocacy initiatives. To date, Lupus LA has raised over $13,000,000 for the cause, and has served over 4.2 million lupus patients with virtual education and programming.
Guests will embark on a culinary adventure as Lupus LA flips the traditional fundraiser upside down by welcoming guests to dine first and experience food from seven of Los Angeles’ most world-renowned Chef’s and Pâtissier. Neal Fraser of Redbird will delight with his modern American cuisine, Chris Bianco’s locally sourced ingredients will ignite your tastebuds with Pizzeria Bianco, Katianna and John Hong embody the genre-defying essence of their Korean American identity with YANGBAN. Nakul Mahendro will share his “Indian food for the people,” while we get Momed by Vartan Abgaryan, who will offer us a fresh and sophisticated interpretation of the centuries-old tradition of seasonal and farm to table Mediterranean dining. No culinary adventure is ever complete without dessert, and we certainly will be in for a treat with “L.A.’s Sweetheart” and three-time James Beard Award-winner, Sherry Yard of Bakery By The Yard.
Lupus LA will honor James Beard Award winner, Emmy-winner, Iron Chef, Author, and Restaurateur Michael Symon with the Loop Award, Waterfall Films CEO, Your Story Our Fight Podcast Host and Lupus LA Founder, Adam Selkowitz with the Ellis Community Leadership Award, and Mariko Ishimori, MD, interim director of the Division of Rheumatology in the Department of Medicine at Cedars-Sinai Health System and Lupus LA Medical Advisory Board with the Medical Visionary Award. The red carpet, cocktail attire dinner will include music by Haute Disco, unforgettable surprises, and a live auction by Billy Harris. The event is produced by the Ombrello Agency.
