George Miller returned to the memorable post-apocalyptic world he created for Mad Max with this nonstop thrill ride that introduced a new Max (Tom Hardy) as well as a memorable action heroine (Charlize Theron as Imperator Furiosa). The film received 10 nominations including Best Picture and Directing, and earned Oscars for Costume Design, Film Editing, Makeup and Hairstyling, Production Design, Sound Editing, and Sound Mixing.
