The socially distant dining retreat offers 28 cabins to warm up with a new seasonal menu and signature cocktails by award-winning bar Dante.
The city’s premier open-air rooftop venue at Pier 17 will bring all the seasonal charm of Upstate New York, no further than downtown, as it converts the Seaport’s socially distant summer dining concept, The Greens, into winterized rooftop cabins.
The Greens will comprise 28 individual 12’ x 10’ dining cabins, each responsibly fitting up to 10 guests and decked with classic winter décor and amenities including cozy and comfortable banquette seating, floor-to-ceiling views of New York, a virtual fireplace, electric heating, and more.
Following a popular summer season, The Greens will again feature a custom-designed layout for seamless social distancing with guests’ safety as the top priority. Each rooftop cabin will be reserved for individual small groups and will be disinfected thoroughly between each 90-minute reservation slot. All government guidelines will be in place so guests can responsibly dine out with confidence. In addition to mask requirements for staff, safety measures include, but are not limited to, spacious floorplans, Molekule air purifiers, hand sanitizers across The Rooftop, safe-distancing signage, and touchless mobile ordering via guest phones utilizing QR code technology.
The Greens’ new winter edition expands upon the summer’s previous mini lawn concept, allowing diners to cozy up during a night out, offering a fun and scenic escape for those looking to enjoy seasonally-themed dishes and cocktails but now from the comfort of their own cabin getaway. For added ambiance, a mountain range sculpture will decorate The Rooftop at Pier 17’s stage, complementing the rows of ski-inspired cabins and emulating an alpine escape overlooking the Brooklyn Bridge and East River.
The all-day menu provided by the Pier’s rooftop restaurant, R17, blends approachable New American cuisine with a festive cocktail program by award-winning World’s Best Bar and New York City landmark, Dante, including signature cocktails and recipes developed exclusively for The Greens. Additionally, in partnership with YETI, warm beverages will be served in their premium drinkware.
Hint for the Average Socialite: Starting Thursday, November 12 The Greens will be open seven days a week for guests to enjoy lunch or dinner, paired with iconic skyline views. Online reservations for cabins are preferred, and can be made one week in advance by visiting Pier17NY.com. New reservations will be released every Monday at 10:00 am starting on November 23, and walk-ups will be seated based on availability.
As part of a continued initiative to support local community organizations—including The Greens summer season that resulted in a $20,525 donation to Lower Manhattan’s The Bowery Mission—each cabin will incur a reservation fee of which a portion will be donated in support of multiple downtown philanthropic initiatives to be determined.
