Deets:
Brooklyn Children’s Museum (BCM) brings roller skating back to Brooklyn this Saturday with Empire Skate of Mind, a roller rink opening November 15 on the Museum’s rooftop terrace. Set to disco beats and fresh air, the new rink invites families to lace up and roll together. Empire Skate of Mind offers families an all-ages experience where parents skate alongside their kids, not from the sidelines.

The rink accommodates all skill levels, from first-timers learning to balance to experienced skaters gliding to disco music. BCM provides all skating equipment, including rental skates, helmets, and wrist guards. Skating tickets include full Museum access when families are ready to explore the rest of the Museum.

The rink pays homage to the legendary Empire Roller Rink, which stood less than a mile away at 200 Empire Boulevard from the 1940s through 2007. Empire was the birthplace of roller disco in New York – a place where Brooklyn came together to skate, alongside celebrities like Cher, Prince, and Elton John. BCM’s Empire Skate of Mind revives that community spirit with a fresh spin for today’s families.

Empire Skate of Mind runs November 15, 2025 through April 12, 2026, with sessions on weekdays from 2–5 pm and weekends from 10 am–5 pm. Skating tickets are $10 per person with rental skates ($8 for members), or $8 per person with your own skates ($6 for members). Museum admission is $15 per person and free for BCM members and children under one. The rink is open to ages 3 and up.

Birthday party packages are also available for families looking to celebrate on wheels. For information, visit www.brooklynkids.org/birthdays.

January 6 - March 29

Deets:
The MoMA Design Store is launching a playful pop-up shop that reimagines everyday food as design-forward objects for the home. The faux-food-themed pop-up, called MoMA Mart, will be open January 6 through March 29 at both MoMA Design Store locations—SoHo (81 Spring Street) and Midtown (44 West 53rd Street)—and will also be featured online, where people will be able to shop for the various items. As with all MoMA Design Store purchases, proceeds support the museum and its programming.

The pop-up draws inspiration from food’s long-standing role in art and design, featuring items that resemble familiar kitchen staples and then reveal themselves as lamps, clocks, candles, stools and sculptural décor.

The concept is influenced by works in The Museum of Modern Art’s collection, including pieces by artists Claes Oldenburg and Ed Ruscha.

The MoMA Mart assortment includes a tomato-shaped table lamp, beeswax candles, food-inspired vases, sandwich- and pizza-themed clocks, sculptural stools and salt-and-pepper shakers, and much more, museum store administrators said.

Deets:
New Yorkers can try out Tyra Bank’s viral Hot Ice Cream through a curated, citywide series of collaborations designed to spotlight different flavors, formats, and culinary interpretations of the warm dessert.

Now New Yorkers have various chances to try the viral Hot Ice Cream in different exciting flavors! The menus include a pistachio-cardamom hot ice cream topped with a slice of kulfi at Passerine (January 8–10), Apple Pie à la Crème hot ice cream at Jean-Georges T. Brasserie (January 15–18), a cookie-forward hot ice cream collaboration with Chip City Cookies (Jan 20 - 25), a limited-edition Frrrozen Hot Chocolate Hot Ice Cream at Serendipity 3 (January 29–February 1) and a Temple NYC hot ice cream flavor to be announced (February 5–7) during Men's New York Fashion Week.

Hot Ice Cream is a culinary first — a warm, pourable take on the dessert we all thought we knew.

The result: a smooth, sippable treat that feels like a cross between a hot creamy drink and an ice cream sundae.

Sipped, not scooped. Comforting, not scalding.

A delicious contradiction that challenges everything you think you know about ice cream.

And unmistakably the nostalgic treat we all love.

Deets:
The first episode of this three-part anthology film, Martin Scorsese’s “Life Lessons,” was a revelation for filmmaker and actor Bradley Cooper, one that proved to be a formative influence on his life.

It tells of abstract painter Lionel Dobie (Nick Nolte), who struggles to create works for an upcoming gallery show while navigating a fractured romantic relationship with his young assistant (Rosanna Arquette), a self-doubting painter who is herself drawn to a successful young performance artist (Steve Buscemi). Punctuated by emotion-drenched rock ‘n’ roll and opera tracks, Scorsese’s short film jumps between the paint-splattered, whiskey-soaked grime of industrial Soho lofts and the tuxedoed Upper East Side soirees where artists must mingle with rich patrons to make their living — an allegory for the show business world in which Scorsese works. Above all, it depicts the intoxication artists experience when putting paint to canvas. “You make art because you have to,” says Lionel. “Because you’ve got no choice.”

HONEST KITCHEN INFLATABLE PUPS, NYC

@thehonestkitchen

Subscribe to our Free Newsletter to Stay Up-To-Date on Events in your City

Deets:
From February 2-13, 20-foot inflatable pups will begin appearing around midtown Manhattan during Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show week.

The larger-than-life installations are part of a pop-up campaign by The Honest Kitchen, timed to coincide with Westminster’s return to its traditional February schedule. While the dog show celebrates elite breeding, perfect grooming and championship ribbons, these inflatables are doing the opposite: spotlighting dogs that look like the ones New Yorkers actually live with, walk and dodge on crowded sidewalks.

Before landing in midtown, the giant pups will “cruise” the city’s waterways, floating past both the Hudson and East Rivers. From there, they’ll touch down at Plaza33, just steps from the Garden, where Westminster’s Best in Show will ultimately be crowned.

From February 2–3, Plaza33 will effectively become a temporary dog park-meets-art installation. The inflatables will be on view from early morning through late evening, offering prime photo ops for commuters, tourists and anyone who suddenly finds themselves staring up at a cartoonishly oversized pup on their way to Penn Station.

Pet parents passing through can grab free samples of The Honest Kitchen’s Wholemade dehydrated dog food, along with limited merch and accessories. On Monday evening, February 2, the plaza will also host a dog-lover meet-up at 6:30PM, inviting New Yorkers and their pups to mingle and snack together.

Tuesday, February 10 / 10-6PM

Deets:
For more than 130 years, Manischewitz has been part of American Jewish life — not only as a food brand, but as a cultural constant at the table. From immigrant kitchens to modern homes, from Shabbat dinners to Passover seders, Manischewitz has nourished generations through moments both everyday and sacred.

Through contemporary visual art, photography, and storytelling, SOUP explores how food — particularly soup — serves as a cultural connector: offering comfort, care, humor, ritual, and shared memory. The exhibition looks forward, examining how Jewish identity continues to evolve across generations and geographies, much like the recipes passed from one family member to another.

Art will be sold on site.

Haupt Conservatory into a breathtaking orchid tribute to the spirit, style, and skyline of our beloved metropolis, N.Y.C. Known for blending floristry with pop art, street culture, and fine art, as evidenced by collaborations with brands like Louis Vuitton, Adidas, and Netflix, his installations at NYBG will be as monumental and awe-inspiring as the Big Apple itself.

Also known as “MFF,” Mr. Flower Fantastic is celebrated for his unique designs that blend foristry, sculpture, and pop culture. POPUPFLORIST LOVE LETTER GALLERY, NYC

Deets:
The Love Letters Gallery: an ode to New York City, stories of connection, and the many forms love takes. A one-day exhibit hosted by POPUPFLORIST, the gallery invited visitors to come experience the team's unique floral arrangements inspired by anonymous love letters submitted by New Yorkers.

This Valentine’s season, floral design studio POPUPFLORIST returns with its Love Letter Gallery, a citywide project that asks New Yorkers to slow down and write something real. Starting January 19, red mailboxes will appear at more than a dozen local spots, including Caffe Parradiso, The Elk Nolita, Tarin Thomas, Big Night (Greenpoint, WV, UES), Rita’s Needlepoint, Book Culture, Exit 9 Emporium (EV, BK), and Yours Truly Brooklyn, collecting handwritten notes addressed to a person, a place, a memory—or New York itself.

There’s no catch and no signature required. Write the letter, drop it in, and let it go.

Thirty selected letters will later take physical form in a one-day exhibition curated by POPUPFLORIST founder Kelsie Hayes, where each message is translated into a custom floral installation. The gallery opens February 7 at HOST on Howard, with free registration and a full day to wander, read, and linger over strangers’ words.

Equal parts romantic and raw, the Love Letter Gallery captures the city’s emotional undercurrent—messy, funny, nostalgic, and occasionally heartbreaking. In a place dominated by screens and swipeable feelings, it’s a quiet reminder that handwriting still carries weight—and that anonymity can sometimes say the most.

Stories and Sets for The Sopranos, opening February 14 in the NYC Museum’s Amphitheater Gallery, will trace how the series’ narrative and visual worlds were established. Drawing from Chase’s personal archive, the exhibition features scripts, notes, and research that document the development of the series’ story arcs and character trajectories as it moved from a pilot into the first season. It also examines the design of the four principal sites where the series’ central action was set —Dr. Melfi’s office, the Soprano home, the Bada Bing strip club, and Satriale’s Pork Store—through concept art, construction drawings, and ground plans by production designers Edward Pisoni (pilot) and Dean Taucher (season one).

Deets:
The 265th New York City Saint Patrick’s Day Parade will take place along Fifth Avenue in Manhattan on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at 11AM.

The New York City Saint Patrick’s Day Parade™  is the oldest and largest St. Patrick’s Day Parade in the world. The first parade was held on March 17, 1762 — fourteen years before the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

The parade is held annually on March 17th at precisely 11:00 AM in honor of St. Patrick, the Patron Saint of Ireland and of the Archdiocese of New York. The parade route goes up Fifth Avenue beginning at East 44th Street and ending at East 79th Street. Approximately 150,000 people march in the parade which draws about 2 million spectators.

From its earliest days, right up to the present, the New York City Saint Patrick’s Day Parade™ has been run entirely by volunteers, many of whom come from generations of families dedicated to the organization of the parade. It takes months of preparation and countless hours to run the world’s oldest and largest parade. We could not do it without the commitment of these great women and men.

The NYC Saint Patrick’s Day Parade™  is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Hint for the Average Socialite: This event is free and open to the public. The Parade begins on 5th Avenue at 44th Street. It ends on 5th Avenue uptown at 79th Street. The Parade starts exactly at 11:00 A.M. Eastern Standard Time. It ends at approximately 4:30 P.M. Anywhere along 5th Avenue will give visitors of the Parade a fine location to experience the Parade. If you prefer to stand as close to 5th Avenue as possible, then the earlier you get there, the better.

The Costume Institute Benefit (also known as The Met Gala®) / May 4
Met Gala Exhibition Dates: / May 10 – January 10, 2027

Deets:
The Metropolitan Museum of Art announced today The Costume Institute’s spring 2026 exhibition, Costume Art, which will examine the centrality of the dressed body, juxtaposing objects from across the Museum’s vast collection with historical and contemporary garments from The Costume Institute. The exhibition will be the first show in The Met’s new nearly 12,000-square-foot Galleries adjacent to the Great Hall, which will display The Costume Institute’s annual spring exhibition and transform visitors’ experience at this important nexus of the Museum. Costume Art will be on view at The Met Fifth Avenue from May 10, 2026, through January 10, 2027.

To celebrate the opening of the spring 2026 exhibition, Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, and Anna Wintour will co-chair The Costume Institute Benefit (also known as The Met Gala) on Monday, May 4. Anthony Vaccarello and Zoë Kravitz will co-chair the Gala Host Committee, with members including Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, Gwendoline Christie, Alex Consani, Misty Copeland, Elizabeth Debicki, Lena Dunham, Paloma Elsesser, LISA, Chloe Malle, Sam Smith, Teyana Taylor, Lauren Wasser, Anna Weyant, A’ja Wilson, and Yseult. Additional members of the Host Committee and the evening’s dress code will be announced at a later date. The Met Gala® takes place annually on the first Monday in May, with proceeds providing The Costume Institute with its primary source of annual funding for exhibitions, publications, acquisitions, and operations. The funds raised also support other Museum activities.

Focusing primarily on Western art from prehistory to the present, Costume Art will be organized into a series of thematic body types that reflect their ubiquity and endurance through time and space. These comparisons will highlight the inextricable relationship between clothing and the body and reveal that artistic representations of the body are shaped by the garments that clothe them and that the garments, in turn, are shaped by the bodies which they clothe.

In recognition of a significant lead gift from Condé Nast, the new nearly 12,000-square-foot Galleries will be named for the company’s founder, the late Condé M. Nast. Additional generous contributions toward the renovation are provided by Thom Browne, and Michael Kors and Lance Le Pere. Further support is provided by Met Trustee Aerin Lauder, Tory Burch LLC, Nancy C. and Richard R. Rogers, as well as Met Trustee Amy Griffin and John Griffin.

The exhibition and Benefit are made possible by Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez Bezos.

Additional support is provided by Saint Laurent and Condé Nast.

The catalogue is made possible by Saint Laurent.

Hint for the Average Socialite: The Met Gala is strictly invitation only. The Costume Art Exhibition is open to the public.

Deets:
The Brooklyn Museum Presents North American Debut of Iris van Herpen: Sculpting the Senses.

Opening May 16, 2026, the exhibition showcases over 140 haute couture creations alongside contemporary art, design, and scientific artifacts, inviting visitors to explore how Van Herpen merges craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology, sustainability, and pioneering aesthetics.

The groundbreaking exhibition Iris van Herpen: Sculpting the Senses pays tribute to one of today’s most revolutionary fashion designers working at the intersection of art and science. A pioneer in her use of cutting-edge technologies, Iris van Herpen defies the limits of conventional fashion while embracing both traditional couture craftsmanship and innovative materials and techniques. Furthering the Brooklyn Museum’s legacy of landmark fashion exhibitions and its commitment to championing trailblazing women in art and design, Sculpting the Senses marks Van Herpen’s first major New York exhibition.

Debuting in 2023 at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, the exhibition has since traveled to Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA), Singapore’s ArtScience Museum, and Kunsthal Rotterdam. It will make its North American debut at the Brooklyn Museum on May 16, 2026, timed with the Museum’s annual Brooklyn Artists Ball, where Van Herpen will be honored. The exhibitionis curated by Cloé Pitiot, Curator of Art Nouveau, Art Deco, and Contemporary Design, and Louise Curtis, Assistant Curator, Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris. The Brooklyn Museum presentation is supported by the Simons Foundation and is part of its “Infinite Sums” initiative. It is organized by Matthew Yokobosky, Senior Curator of Fashion and Material Culture, with Imani Williford, Curatorial Assistant, Photography, Fashion, and Material Culture.

Fascinated by the complexity of nature and the power of science, Van Herpen transforms scientific concepts into visionary fashion. Drawing from wide-ranging fields spanning mathematics, neuroscience, marine biology, paleontology, mycology, mineralogy, astronomy, and more, her haute couture designs seamlessly merge art, science, and technology—evoking the often unseen structures of nature, from coral reefs and branching systems of fungi to the vast patterns of planetary motion.

Taking visitors from the depths of the ocean to the outer reaches of the universe, Sculpting the Senses illuminates the core questions of the designer’s practice—about the body in space, its relationship to fashion and the environment, and its future in a rapidly changing world. Featuring themes that explore the mystery and might of water, the architecture of the skeleton and anatomical systems, the physics of motion, the perception of sound and light, and the generative interconnectedness of nature, each section in the exhibition showcases Van Herpen’s innovative approach to materials, movement, and technology. Her designs reflect the dynamic systems of the natural world, achieving the impossible with water-like sculptural gowns and air-like fabrics. Sculpting the Senses also includes an evocation of the designer’s atelier, offering visitors a unique opportunity to engage firsthand with the handcraftsmanship and tactile nature of couture creation.

Over 140 of Van Herpen’s avant-garde designs are placed in dialogue with works of contemporary art—by artists including Philip Beesley, Lanny Bergner, Rogan Brown, the Collectif Mé, Casey Curran, Wim Delvoye, Kim Keever, Nick Knight, Jacques Rougerie, David Spriggs, and Tim Walker. The exhibition also features design pieces by Ferruccio Laviani, Tomáš Libertíny, and Ren Ri alongside loans of scientific artifacts and natural history specimens, such as coral, fossils, and skeletons. The exhibition’s interdisciplinary nature thus nods to the Museum’s 1890 origins as the Brooklyn Institute of Arts and Sciences, which held both fine art and scientific specimen collections.

Situating Van Herpen’s work within a broad lineage of cross-disciplinary creativity, the Brooklyn presentation will feature new works drawn from its renowned collections in American art, Asian art, contemporary art, and feminist art as well as rare materials from the Museum’s Libraries and Archives. Featured artists include Katsumata Chieko, Tara Donovan, Harold Edgerton, Senju Hiroshi, Fujikasa Satoko, and Rob Wynne. Together, this intricate and fantastical display offers an intimate glimpse into Van Herpen’s artistic process, her expansive imagination, and her diverse sources of inspiration. The exhibition is complemented by a multisensory soundscape created by Dutch composer and music producer Salvador Breed.

Born in 1984, Iris van Herpen grew up in the Dutch riverside village of Wamel, where she fostered her close connection to nature. From a young age, she was influenced creatively by her passion for the natural world and classical dance, both of which are central to her design ethos. In 2007 she founded the Maison Iris van Herpen in Amsterdam, where she combined the subtleties of couture craftsmanship with the spirit of innovation. She became the first designer to show a 3D-printed dress on the runway with her 2010 Crystallization collection. Her sculptural designs have been worn by luminaries worldwide, including Beyoncé, Björk, Jordan Roth, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, Naomi Campbell, Rosalía, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Zoë Kravitz.

Deets: Meow Wolf is coming to New York City! Our seventh exhibition will lie in the piers of Manhattan’s historic Seaport neighborhood.

Meow Wolf transforms art and storytelling through unparalleled immersive worlds. Bringing Meow Wolf to New York represents a seismic shift in art and entertainment that challenges and delights us, setting a new standard for wonder, awe, and innovation.

Meow Wolf, the creators of mind-bending immersive experiences, is heading to New York City. Their seventh permanent exhibition will open at the historic Seaport, bringing their maximalist mix of art, storytelling, and interactivity to one of the most iconic cities in the world. After years of East Coast fans asking for a Meow Wolf experience closer to home, the wait is finally over. The Seaport, a place where history and reinvention collide, is the perfect setting for Meow Wolf’s next adventure.

During South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Meow Wolf announced its next permanent exhibition to open in New York City. The reveal unfolded live on-stage, as beloved icon Plotzo, Meow Wolf’s self-proclaimed rat king of the undermallers, crashed the SXSW panel Dada for Dada: The Power of Absurdity to deliver the news.

Since its scrappy beginnings in Santa Fe in 2008, Meow Wolf has redefined how audiences engage with art. What started as an art collective transforming discarded materials into immersive experiences has evolved into a global phenomenon. With House of Eternal Return in Santa Fe as its first permanent exhibition, Meow Wolf has since expanded to Las Vegas, Denver, Dallas, and Houston, with upcoming locations in Los Angeles and now, New York. Across all these worlds, one thing remains constant: Meow Wolf’s ability to transport visitors into mind-expanding, interactive realms.

New York City has long been a hub for creative invention, making it a natural fit for Meow Wolf’s first East Coast exhibition. The Seaport’s waterfront energy, cobblestone streets, and eclectic mix of culture create a space where past and future converge—an environment set to fuel Meow Wolf’s imagination.

“The energy of New York City is unlike anywhere else, and it’s the perfect place for Meow Wolf,” said Jose Tolosa, CEO of Meow Wolf. “This city has given the world so much groundbreaking art and culture, and as a New Yorker myself, where my family and I proudly call home, I’m incredibly proud that we’re bringing something truly unique to this historic and ever-evolving creative hub.”

Meow Wolf exhibitions don’t fit into neat categories. They’re not escape rooms, selfie museums, or traditional immersive experiences. They are interactive universes filled with layers of narrative, where every visitor becomes part of the story. Meow Wolf New York will push these boundaries even further connecting to Meow Wolf’s larger cosmic universe while crafting something distinctly New York.

"New York has always been a city that thrives on reinvention, making it the perfect place for Meow Wolf’s next evolution," said Vince Kadlubek, Meow Wolf Co-Founder and Chief Vision Officer. "I’ve been closely involved in bringing this to life, and I couldn’t be more excited. We’re creating something with a level of creative ambition and next-generation storytelling that pushes beyond anything we’ve done before—an experience that truly belongs in this city."

Co-Founder and mascot Benji Geary sees it through a different lens. "I’m just excited to see an exhibit of ours in the most legendary city. New York is its own planet, a hyperobject of culture—self-assured, jaded, but hungry. It devours, reinvents, and warps reality through sheer density of minds. What happens when we throw our weird into that mix? The artists, the energy, the exquisite corpse of collaboration—what egregore will emerge? This isn’t a Meow Wolf exhibit in NYC. It’s NYC’s Meow Wolf exhibit. It’s gonna be what it wants to be."

As the first Certified B Corporation in the entertainment industry, Meow Wolf is dedicated to working with local artists to ensure each exhibition reflects the heart of its host city. Meow Wolf New York will be a love letter to the stories, people, and artistic spirit that make the city an unmatched cultural powerhouse.

The theme, opening date, and more details are still to come.

Deets:
Neil deGrasse Tyson, the renowned astrophysicist, bestselling author, and one of the most compelling public voices in science, comes to 92NY for a wide-ranging conversation about reclaiming truth in an age of misinformation, and why a passion for science has never been more essential.

Tyson has spent decades translating the grandeur of the cosmos to a human scale. But as misinformation runs rampant across social media and a growing mistrust of science spreads through our culture and politics, and funding for science research is being cut across our government and institutions of higher education, the basic tenets of understanding who we are and where we stand in the universe are being steadily eroded.

Join us as Tyson takes on the new war on science in America with clarity, humor, and urgency. He offers a bracing look at how we got here, what’s at stake, and how a renewed commitment to evidence and curiosity can help chart the way forward — in the pursuit of truth in the natural world, and the worlds beyond our planet.

VINTED ROLLING CLOTHING RAIL, NYC

@vinted

Subscribe to our Free Newsletter to Stay Up-To-Date on Events in your City

Deets: Vinted, Europe’s leading online platform for buying and selling secondhand clothing and will make its U.S. debut with a New York City activation supported by new research in partnership with GWI.

On Wednesday, Jan 21, Vinted is officially touching down in New York for the first time. To mark the moment, Vinted is rolling a clothing rail through the streets of NYC — popping up in iconic neighbourhoods and inviting people to stop, browse, react, style, comment, film, and talk.

It’s a very New York way of asking a very New York question:

Why are we holding onto so much — when space is tight and value is sitting unworn?

Loved by millions in Europe, this is Vinted’s first physical moment in US, and it’s backed by new research showing just how much value is hiding in wardrobes here.

The rail is a physical way to spark the conversation about lack of space, about cost of living, about the untapped value hanging in our closets, and about what it means to finally release it.

In a city where closets are tiny and rent is not, this hits.

Following the screening, stay for a live conversation with the creative minds behind the music: EJAE — one of today’s most exciting K-pop songwriters and a voice in the film — and Mark Sonnenblick, whose songs power the movie’s emotional highs and unforgettable hooks. Join them as they take you inside the songwriting process and discuss how they build characters through music — and share what it’s like creating pop songs that also slay demons (literally).

Expect big feelings, bigger choruses, and a room full of people singing at the top of their lungs. Come with friends, bring your kids, or make it a family night out. Costumes encouraged. Joy guaranteed.
