Deets: Winter in NYC is officially here when Wollman Rink opens for the ice skating season this week, with two days of free skating over the weekend!
Ring in the season in one of NYC’s favorite skating destinations: ice skating at Wollman Rink in Central Park is open to the public on Wednesday, October 28, with the first full weekend of free skating on Saturday, October 31 and Sunday, November 1.
To celebrate the start of another winter season at Wollman Rink, skating admission and rentals are free for everyone all day on Saturday and Sunday. Skaters can also look forward to more fun giveaways like free hot chocolate and candy, spooky Halloween skating in costumes on October 31, and the kick off to another series of family movie nights at Wollman Rink. Free tickets and skate rentals can be reserved on the Wollman Rink website HERE.
A summertime tradition continues into the holiday season with Wollman Rink’s Thursday Night Movie series. Grab lawn chairs, picnic blankets, and pillows for free, family-friendly outdoor movie screenings on the Overlook, with free popcorn and hot chocolate while supplies last. Movies begin at dark (times vary depending on sunset). The fall movie lineup begins this week including the featured films below, with more to be announced:

Thursday, December 3: The Nightmare Before Christmas
Thursday, December 13: The Polar Express
