Deets: A total solar eclipse will take place at the Moon's ascending node on Monday, April 8, 2024, visible across North America and dubbed the Great North American Eclipse by some of the media. The eclipse will begin around 2PM. For New York City, we’ll be able to see the Moon cover up to 90 percent of the Sun at 3:25PM, per the American Museum of Natural History.

New York State is offering FREE limited edition I LOVE NY eclipse glasses! Daily supplies are extremely limited. Pick up your complimentary pair (two per person, while supplies last daily) at New York State Welcome Centers, select Thruway Rest Stops, and other locations. New York City’s three public library systems will be distributing free solar eclipse glasses starting March 29. Glasses will be available while quantities last on a first-come, first-served basis at all Brooklyn Public Library, Queens Public Library, and New York Public Library (which includes the Bronx, Manhattan, and Staten Island) locations.
