Deets: A total solar eclipse will take place at the Moon's ascending node on Monday, April 8, 2024, visible across North America and dubbed the Great North American Eclipse by some of the media. The eclipse will begin around 2PM. For New York City, we’ll be able to see the Moon cover up to 90 percent of the Sun at 3:25PM, per the American Museum of Natural History.

is offering its “Perfect Eclipse” margarita through April 14.

Blue Moon is offering a special Eclipse Sips kit with black light coasters, a flashlight, four Blue Moon pint glasses and some "Moon Dust" to make your Blue Moon White Belgian-Style wheat ale "shimmer and glow." The $25 kits will go on sale on the Blue Moon website Wednesday, April 3, at 12PM EST.

Hint for the Average Socialite:
While viewing the eclipse on April 8, 2024, it’s important to keep your eyes protected and follow these safety tips. One of the best ways to view a solar eclipse without harming your eyes is by using International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 12312-2 certified eclipse glasses. 

WHERE TO GET FREE GLASSES

New York State is offering FREE limited edition I LOVE NY eclipse glasses! Daily supplies are extremely limited.  Pick up your complimentary pair (two per person, while supplies last daily) at New York State Welcome Centers, select Thruway Rest Stops, and other locations. Please note that there is no guarantee that glasses will be available as demand has been very high. Full list of locations listed here.

Warby Parker ~ The company began providing free solar eclipse glasses at all locations from April 1 until the day of the eclipse, unless supplies run out. Learn more.

New York City’s three public library systems will be distributing free solar eclipse glasses starting March 29. Glasses will be available while quantities last on a first-come, first-served basis at all Brooklyn Public Library, Queens Public Library, and New York Public Library (which includes the Bronx, Manhattan, and Staten Island) locations.
