WICKED Celebration / October 11 / 11AM-2PM
WICKED Broadway Garden / October 11–November 2 / 10AM-6PM
Deets: A new WICKED Broadway Garden, in collaboration with the blockbuster Broadway musical WICKED, will be on display at the Home Gardening Center of the New York Botanical Garden (NYBG) from October 11 through November 2, 2025. Journey through a collection of vibrant and fantastical plants in shades of pink and green, and a photo opportunity inspired by the hit Broadway show. A special WICKED celebration on Saturday, October 11, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., features live performances in the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory Plaza at 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 1:30 p.m. by members of the cast from the national tour: Natalia Vivino, who played Elphaba, and Hayley Podschun, who played Glinda.
The first 300 guests will receive a free pink carnation! Between cast performances, take part in WICKED trivia and the chance to win special prizes. At the Home Gardening Center, Face Art by Melissa offers face painting from a choice of whimsical designs, open to all on a first-come, first-served basis.
Then strike a pose in the WICKED Broadway Garden. View chrysanthemums, ruby grass (Melinis nerviglum), and ornamental cabbages (Brassica oleracea) to add lively shades of pink. Agaves, palms, and grass (Carex oshimensis ‘Everillo’) bring punchy contrast with shades of green that the Emerald City would approve! Deep purple and black touches from ornamental pepper (Capsicum annuum ‘Purple Flash’) and Euphorbia ‘Miners Merlot’ then add depth to the magical display. These easy-to-care-for species are just the start. See the WICKED Broadway Garden in person to find inspiration for your own plantings!
