Deets:
Comic Relief US, a nonprofit harnessing the power of entertainment to break the cycle of poverty, presents “Comic Relief: Stand-Up for LA”: a live evening of comedy uniting the New York City community in support of children and families who are working to rebuild and recover after the LA wildfires. Sponsored by SHOWTIME/MTV Entertainment Studios and with additional support from Yahoo and ServiceNow, the one-night only event will take place on March 3 at The Town Hall in NYC at 8PM.

The evening will feature stand-up performances and appearances from Jon StewartJohn Oliver, Ramy YoussefChris Distefano, Desi Lydic, Hannah Berner and Josh Johnson, along with a stellar lineup of celebrities still to be announced. Funds raised from the event will go to Comic Relief US grantee partners who are on the ground addressing the immediate and long-term recovery needs of underserved communities in LA. Those in attendance will have the chance to donate to the recovery and response efforts in real-time. Donations from the general public can be made anytime at comicrelief.org/la.

“The destruction caused by the LA fires is almost unimaginable and the long-term impact on children and families in underserved communities is even greater,” said Michele Ganeless, CEO of Comic Relief US. “This disaster has exacerbated crises, like homelessness and hunger, and disrupted youth education, further contributing to socioeconomic instability and vulnerability. Rebuilding isn’t just about today; we need to step up and make sure families have what they need to recover and thrive for years to come.”

In addition, the legendary comedy institution, The Second City, will host a comedy night, with proceeds also benefiting Comic Relief US’ response and recovery efforts.

Added Ganeless: “No community should have to face the devastating impacts of a natural disaster alone. Stand-Up for LA is our way of uniting people through comedy and entertainment, turning laughter into action to ensure those hardest hit by the fires can get the help they need.”
