Deets: The first-ever international exhibition dedicated to North Korean women’s lives and voices, opens September 20th -27th at 393 Broadway in Tribeca, New York, coinciding with the 80th session of the UN General Assembly. 

Hosted by Amnesty International, Christian Solidarity Worldwide, Hanvoice, International Coalition to Stop Crimes against Humanity in North Korea, International Federation for Human Rights, and Network for North Korean Democracy and Human Rights, the exhibition showcases the works of fourteen international artists alongside powerful testimonies (video interviews) from North Korean escapees. It brings to light stories of resilience that are never shared.  

Curated by South Korean curator Dr. Stephanie Seungmin Kim, the show features Korean artists and others with deep ties to the region. Together, they invite viewers to rethink visibility, justice, and solidarity through the lens of those who were never meant to be seen.

This powerful exhibition is intended to connect North Korean women to the broader ongoing struggles by women around the world through the medium of art.
