Deets:
Virgil Abloh: The Codes hits Manhattan. A love letter to New York, its people, and the power of dreaming.

Immerse yourself in the late designer’s universe through his monumental archive: fashion, sneakers, music, architecture, all built on remixing, collaboration, and youthful optimism. Raw, rule-breaking, unmistakably street.

Presented by the Virgil Abloh Foundation in partnership with Nike, Virgil Abloh: The Codes is a major survey celebrating the multidisciplinary practice and enduring legacy of Virgil Abloh (1980 – 2021). Curated by Chloe and Mahfuz Sultan, the exhibition brings together nearly 1,000 objects across 28,000 square feet selected from the Virgil Abloh Archive™ and exploring Abloh’s work across fashion, art, architecture, graphic design, music, and cultural production.

Through finished works, prototypes, sketches, and archival materials, the exhibition examines the ideas and methodologies connecting Abloh’s practice, challenging boundaries between disciplines and reimagining design as an open, collaborative process. A recreation of his iconic Paris office and an interactive media lab featuring selected raw design files extend his commitment to accessibility, experimentation, and empowering future generations of creatives. Abloh’s unwavering commitment to opening doors and creating opportunities for youth and emerging talent continues through the Virgil Abloh Foundation, established by Shannon Abloh to advance his vision through education, mentorship, and partnerships that foster more equitable and inclusive creative industries.
