The New York Public Library’s latest exhibition, ¡Wepa! Puerto Ricans in the World of Comics, celebrates and explores the diverse artistic expressions and unique perspectives of Puerto Rican comic book creators. Drawing primarily on the remarkable Manuel Martínez Nazario Collection, consisting of approximately 1,600 comics and about fifty original artworks, the exhibition highlights aspects of Puerto Rican life and culture, from the Island itself and its connections with New York City, to Puerto Rico’s complex past and visions of futuristic and fantastical worlds. Join us at the Library After Hours for special access to the exhibition, plus one-night-only events inspired by it—including curator talks, cosplay, live music, and more.
