Deets: Los Angeles magazine will host an exclusive culinary experience at Uchi West Hollywood from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Named one of our Best New Restaurants of 2025, Uchi’s chef de cuisine, Joel Hammond, will lead a maki class, offering culinary insights and lessons on sushi-making techniques. Each guest will get to create a We Love L.A. Roll, a special collaboration designed by Uchi and L.A. Mag.
A Baja kampachi makimono roll, the We Love L.A. Roll embraces the spirit of the season through a dash of pea tendrils, snow peas and Meyer lemon.
The July 31 event will also benefit the chef José Andrés-founded nonprofit organization. More than a sushi 101 session, Hammond’s class will be followed by a 10-course dinner, inclusive of a welcome cocktail and Uchi cookbook. It is set to be a special and initmate evening.
Hint for the Average Socialite: Reservations are available now.
The We Love L.A. Roll will be available to Uchi diners beyond the July 31 class. Until Aug. 30, consider switching out your usual Hama Chili or hamachi order for it. Not only does it burst with vibrant flavors, a percent of proceeds from the roll will benefit World Central Kitchen.
